Delirium (495), Santa Cruz, California, USA Jun 23, 2006 Updated: Jan 22, 2008Draught. Pours hazy golden with vigorous carbonation but moderate head. Fairly weak aroma, mainly of wheat. Similar flavor, although a bit stronger, and with a hint of citrus. Finishes crisply. Not exciting at all, but it’s not bad. piscator34 (1121), Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada Jun 19, 2006 Draft sample at the Bellagio. Hazy gold in colour with lots of carbonation. Neutral aroma (not much there, aside from the slightest whisper of floral hops). Grainy wheat flavor, with a bit of lemon. Medium bodied, with a crisp lager-like finish. Very much on the dull side, but still better than macro-swill. jetzler (622), oklahoma city, Oklahoma, USA Jun 17, 2006 Bottle served cold, warmed my own glass. Light aroma, very little citrus present, just notes of wheat. This finish is a bit bitter, not what i anticpated, and I feel slightly detrimental. webjedi (249), Silver Spring, Maryland, USA Jun 15, 2006 Pour an initial semi-cloudy dark lemon color. Slight hints of citrus and bitter yeast. Almost a "soap ring" type of leftover head. Quite crisp on the pour. Mouthfeel is slightly watery with just a hint of rear throat bitterness in the aftertaste. Takes a while to pick up the wheat, namely after the glass warms up. Passable hefe. (Bottle Pour 06/15/2006) OhioDad (2491), Hilliard, Ohio, USA Jun 15, 2006 12oz bottle pours cloudy golden with a short white head that doesn’t stay too long. Aromas of light bubblegum and citrus but generally nothing that pleasing to the nose. Flavor is pretty much yeast and light bubblegum I presume from the wheat. A touch of lemon on the finish. Palate is light and airy. This really shouldn’t be called a hefeweizen and really wasn’t even a good American wheat. Beersnob77 (8), Mount Juliet, Tennessee, USA does not count Jun 10, 2006 This does not have the taste of a true German hefe and it is one of the few wheat beers that i will "hang fruit" (lemon) in. Despite the unfiltered processing this beer pours very clear with a darker color than many hefes. Good flavor, not as complex and lacks the citrus and spice notes found in a Yazoo or Paulaner. bgoguen (53), Colorado, USA Jun 8, 2006 Only had the Apricot Ale until this one. Pours nice with a fluffy white head that dissipates after the first few sips. Perfect rich, cloudy golden-orange color. No stand-out aromas to speak of other than the basic yeasty, unfiltered wheat smell. No complex tastes either, but a good, clean, smooth heffe with a good palate. Goes down easy. I couldn’t stop myself from drinking it quickly. The first glass only lasted me about six minutes. This makes a great drinking beer for a reasonable micro price. I would buy it again. Jabswitch (206), Green Bay, Wisconsin, USA Jun 6, 2006 Never tried a Pyramid of any type before. Picked up a sixpack of Hefe. Looked clear in the bottle, but poured a very nice cloudy gold. Yeasty aroma. Pleasant tasting - reminded me a bit of Bell’s Oberon ale. Would never be able to pick this one in a blind taste test, but would drink it again. I liked the price and it was a very decent tasting hefe. Nowhere near the ultimate German Hefe’s however.
