Flavor is mildy sweet, corn and wheat, no clove or banana here, and no hop flavor either. Small diacetyl. Don’t call it a hefeweizen if you aren’t going to taste like one. | 2.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 4/5 | 3/10 | 3/5 | 8/20 | Feb 9, 2006 oz. twist cap brown bottle with a blurb about the Hefe Weizen on the neck label and no freshness date. Had a promising appearance, poured a cloudy dirty copper golden with a large frothy, rocky white head that slowly reduced to a thin bubbly, sticky ringed lacing. Had a stale, funky banana yeasty aroma with whiffs of a distant breadiness and lemons. Good carbonation and a slick medium bodied mouth feel, around average drinkability. Had a watery wheat malty taste with a stale yeastiness and a sour, semi-crisp lemony finish and a strange metallic flavor in the aftertaste.

| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Jan 22, 2006 Agreed. This is an American wheat, not a hefeweizen. Cloudy and golden with a lofty white head, it has a light malt, yeast, and lemon juice aroma. The flavor is wheat with a bit of lemon sourness. Probably goes down better in the Summer. It’s January.

Either this, Shiner Bock (had that), Bud swill, or Guinness (had that way too many times). Appearnce is orange yellow, which is a tad too cloudy and with no head. Typical wheat beer aroma, but too weak. Basically, this was a very average Hefe to some it up. bfeldmann (1042), Wilmington, Delaware, USA

| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Jan 17, 2006 Tap Pour at Scarpa’s 2 in ABQ, NM. Served in a pint glass with the traditional lemon slice garnish. Not much head, but the cloudy orange-amber body was a sight for sore eyes. Aroma dominated by the citrus aspect, but a little wheat comes through. No traditional banana here! Flavors also dominated by the lemon/citrus, but more of the wheat/bread, and some spices come out. I do miss the banana evident in other Weizens. Very tasty for an American Hefeweizen... but these boys still have something to shoot for. Cheers!
