Juelze (889), Green Bay, Wisconsin, USA Jul 3, 2009 Pours a light yellow hazy color. Aroma is of tart wheat and light clove. Taste is mild clove, light banana and some tangy wheat. If you’re going to call it a hefeweizen, then you ought to put a hefeweizen in this bottle instead of this shite. Blech. AgentSteve (1334), SF Bay Area, California, USA Jun 27, 2009 Pours slightly foggy and sparkling golden with a two finger white head. Nose is decent, with some grain sweetness and light bitterness. The flavor is refreshing and light with the same sweetness and a subtle bitter finish. Beardface (977), Eugene, Oregon, USA Jun 27, 2009 Typically generic and poor tasting American wheat beer. Light golden pour, bland taste of wheat with a light bit of banana and orange. Very thin mouthfeel. Vertical Bacon Strips (874), Edmonton, Alberta, Canada Jun 26, 2009 Poured out a big bright white cap with good retention and some slippery ropy lacing and some thick metemusil coloured beer...a bit too dark - it’s very orange. The aroma is very weak early on but it does come out: wheat, maybe a very weak banana / chocolate mix, orange that is not citrusy, almond?. You really gotta try to find those. The taste is ok: more wheat, soft, nut?, citrus, too sour and along with that sourness is where the bitterness shows up... er... is there more? I do like how this is not a banana bomb but it’s on the bland side. A good choice if you want a very soft American Wheat. The mouthfeel is so-so, so is the carbonation. There is an ok softness. Finishes dry with biscuit and a very slight spice. A pleasant non-offending beer that does not excite me one bit. 17$ for 6 too. Good luck selling those off quickly. Ughsmash (3978), Waukesha, Wisconsin, USA Jun 21, 2009 Bottled. Poured hazy medium orange with a short cap of off-white head. The aroma was sweet with honey and pale malts accented by orange zest. The flavor was sweet as well with honey and redder fruits at the core.. orange zest and mildly tangy wheat surrounded.. sweet finish with a light grainy texture. Lighter-bodied and too sweet on the palate.. came across as dumbed-down and extremely accessible. Grovlam (3790), Copenhagen, Denmark Jun 20, 2009 Bottle. Small fizzy white head that mostly diminished. Spare display of lacework. Light cloudy yellow golden color. Aroma of mild yeast, wheat, fruit, citrus. Light bodied with a soft carbonation. Light sweet flavor with a hint of acidic. Light sweet fruity and citrus like finish. Gregis (1132), Shawnee, Kansas, USA Jun 17, 2009 Pours a cloudy golden amber with a frothy white head that collapses quickly to a small ring of bubble clinging to the sides of the glass. The nose is fairly muted with a solid wheat body and a light fruity yeast note in support. The palate is near-perfect, for the style: medium-light bodied, soft and wheaty with a clean finish. Only a touch of the wheat and yeast linger for a moment at the back of the tongue. Soft, sweet wheat with a nice blend of generic fruitiness thrown into the mix (think fading Juicy Fruit). I’m actually surprised to see this scored so lowly. As American-style wheat beers go, this is pretty solid.
elihapa (1033), Honolulu, California, USA Jun 17, 2009 On tap in Hermosa. Pours light golden and hazy. Palate is light, mildly fizzy, and textured, especially on the finish. Flavor is wheaty, slightly lemony, and with a clean finish. I’m missing the depth of German hefes in this one though. In the end, this beer will have to settle for being a nice alternative to budcoorsmiller, but that’s all.
