Pyramid Haywire Hefeweizen

Had one of these on tap at Riva (on the Wharf) while visiting the Santa Cruz boardwalk last Sunday. This brew pours a cloudy light amber. The white and foamy head doesn't last long and the lacing is light. The nose is standard dry wheat, I was on a wharf, mind you - so I struggled with the nose. The bready taste is bland but balanced. The body is light, watery and fizzy. Great for summertime, but this is one of my least favorite styles.

Gave it a swirl. Pours fading white head with an orange-golden body. Smells of grain and it tastes the same. Flavor is thick wheat, reminds me a bit of oatmeal. Poor finish.

Quite good without having many true wheat qualities. This gets points because one night in Seattle I was exausted and asked for a ’flavourful american beer’. I got this and felt recouperated.

First off, i wanna know where they got that picture of the Pyramid Hefeweizen, because mine looked pretty pathetic compared to that. On tap at Chili's Bar and Grill in Reseda, CA. It poured a cloudy orange color, just like the color on the inside of an orange. Head is non-existant..something white-like faintly tried to cling to the glass but failed miserably. The aroma is..somewhere...where, i dont know..but it is there...ahhhh, there it is.. wheat, some malt, and thats about it. The taste was strange..its starts off with nothing but a wheat, and malty metallicness to it, and then trangresses to get thinner and thinner as i progressed through my tall sample. Very little to this drink...a thin wheat flavor, a little malt to make for a dry finish, but nothing interesting. I had more fun looking at the cute waitresses...definitely a party beer.

a golden unripe apricot color, yeasted haze. a small citrusy nose, very small, diminutive--a button nose. the beer peeks out through a bashful head. it’s not quite watery, but it’s rather nondiscript, soft, only enough citrus character to keep it from floating away entirely. it can’t be offensive though because it isn’t bold enough to risk an opinion. bleh.

Pours cloudy yellow/orange, with very small head. Aroma is light malts & bread. Taste is a little disappointing for a hefeweizen. A little too acidic and it has a dry finish. Decent, but not great.

Pours to a yellowish-orange with lots of carbonation and a medium white head. Strong aromma of wheat and dough. Taste of wheat, with maltiness and slight fruit. Good finish.

12oz bottle. Pours cloudy golden yellow with white head. Aroma is wheat, citrus and some mild yeast. Flavor is mostly wheat, citrus with some light pale malt and yeast. Decent wheat ale and not offensive at all. Good for a hot summer day.
