Commercial Description:
The standard by which all other wheat beers are judged. Our deliciously deranged American-Style Hefeweizen is an award winning take on this Bavarian classic. This refreshingly unfiltered wheat ale delivers a distinctively smooth flavor worth sharing with friends.

8/15/07 from the bottle. Aroma is sour wheat malt forward with a solid hop citrus and spice balance. While not to style, it does have a slight clove note. Appearance is hazy gold with a gool off-white head. Flavor is sweet wheat malt forward, lightly grainy with sourness and low bittering. Mouthfeel is medium bodied with light creaminess and low carb feel. Overall, a simple, well made hef that is refreshing and easy drinking.

A deep yellow couldy hefeweizen with a small head. Medium body. Citris and pure wheat aroma. Medium-strong flavor of lighter wheat malts, and clean yeast, and pure water. The beer has great mouthfeel and taste. Just the right amount of bite. Abundant, tight lacing. Finish is refreshing and clean. One of the better hefeweizens.

This beer is amazing of the tap, not so much in the bottle. Pours a hazy orange. The taste is bitter, you get a lot of wheat and some spice. It’s one tasty brew, especially with a wedge of lemon or my all time favorite, Hefeweizen with a wedge of orange, it really brings out the flavor.

Draft straight from the brewery. Poured a beautiful cloudy yellow. Fresh, citrus aroma. Flavors of lemon, grapefruit, and a hint of lime. A slight thickness that is much appreciated. Maybe this beer doesn’t travel well because what I had was of much higher quality than has been depicted from others.

OK, I’m not going to get into the whole American Wheat vs. Hefeweizen thing with this one so I shall proceed to simply rate this wheat beer as it is, which is rather decent overall. Faint wheaty malty aroma, slightly fruity and nice. Pretty orange golden pour with a decent head and a touch of lacing, cloudy with the yeast the beer aquires a more vibrant appearance. Nice and fluffy on the palate, filling and extremely smooth. This one drinks easy and satisfies quickly. Flavorful for an American Wheat, but not close to an authentic Hefe the flavor is still solid. Heavy wheat influence, lightly fruity, clean and balanced. This is a solid brew.

Bottle. Pours hazy peach-golden with large creamy, lasting head. Aroma is mildly spicy bread yeast. Taste is smooth white bread, with a refreshing light sourness. Nice bready, wheat aftertaste seems to coat the inside of my mouth. I really like most Bavarian wheat beers; don’t usually like the American style wheat so much, but this one is pleasantly surprising. Drinkable, mild taste; mostly wheat with a nice balance between the tart and sweet. Some here describe it as bland, but the tendency towards accenting either the sweetness or the citric acid qualities is what I hate about most American wheats. Excellent choice when selection is limited.

Probably my favorite Pyramid Brew. Pours light golden color with a thick white head. Has a good array of flavors in the brew that have a pleasent aftertaste. Worth a try if you can find it, an above average hefe.
