Bottle from Hollingshead’s Deli. Not, not, not impressed. Tasted like any old bargain hef like Widmer or a poor pull of Four Peaks. Overwhelming bitter finish, very hollow and unfounded lemon topnotes. Just not impressive.

22 oz. bottle on 6/16/08. Light fruitiness with hints of spice. Cloudy gold, spare white head, and insignificant lace. Honey like sweetness and a trailing soft, spicy bitterness.ight/medium body and carbonation, clean, refreshing palate. Although this has a certain refreshing quality, it just doesn’t have the qualities of a solid German hefeweizen. I don’t understand the "Imperial" sobriquet. What’s the point?

Thanks Dave for sharing this 2007 vintage. But, ick! The beer pours to a hazy dark straw colored body with a thin fizzy white head. The aroma smells more like Miller Lite than the Miller Lite Wheat did. Fusels everywhere. The beer is grainy and grassy with a very vile wheat and acetic fusel alcohol. Very rough. The palate is nearly undrinkable. Alcoholic for 7.5%.

Brewer’s Reserve 2007. 650ml bottle. Hazy amber almost IPA in colour. Thick light bubble head. Thin aroma with alcohol dominant. Definant alcohol edge. Chemical hop aftertaste. Says unfiltered so we’ll give it a stir and pour the rest. Certainly gives it a cloudy orange appearance. Adds a strong banana note to the scent. Much smoother. Still a harsh malt liquor finish. I love a Hefe but the extra alcohol ruins the beer in this case.

Pours a golden honey color with quickly disappearing head. Scent is of sweet fragrant fruit. Sweet and easy drinking, great for the summer. I’ll have another, barkeep!

Alcohol, banana, citrus and a touch of DMS in the nose. Hazy, opaque, deep blonde body topped by a fizzy white head that retreats rapidly to a slight ring. Banana flavour is quite strong and sweet with light citrus tones and moderate finishing bitterness. Surprisingly dry and somewhat astringent for a wheat beer with strong, puckering carbonation that really prickles the tongue. Tulip glass. Just above fridge temperature. Bottle (Brewery Creek, May-08).

Pours hazy golden-orange, thin foam with little retention. Aroma of sweet fragrant fruit or sugary juice, almost syrupy. Carbonation attacks the tongue a little at first, otherwise the flavor is rather direct and sugary. A slight hop bitterness provides some astringency to hold off the sweetness, but no complexity. Meh. Overall certainly not my favorite Pyramid offering, but then again I’ve never been wild about Imperial Weizen as a style so I don’t think I fault the brewers. All the same, meh.
