Unfortunately, it doesn’t taste as good as it looks. It’s more heavily malted that standard wheat beers, so there is a heartier flavor. However, it does not exhibit the expected hefeweizen characteristics i.e. it’s not smooth and light, it’s harsh and cloying. Collint (458), Sylva, North Carolina, USA

| 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Feb 13, 2008 In the bomber bottle from Beertopia. Pours a cloudy dark gold with a big white head. Has a mild wheaty nose, but it is quite unusual in that it completely lacks fruitiness, lemons, or any strong esters. Somewhat boring in its malt liquor-like characteristics. Any generic german hefe that I’ve had is better than this. Since this is not on the hefe style at all, does adding the word "Imperial" to the name mean the same thing as "Not really". As in "Not really a hefeweizen." beerbrat99 (119), Portland, Oregon, USA
| 2.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 4/10 | 2/5 | 9/20 | Feb 10, 2008 Bottle. Pours an unfiltered orangey-straw-brown color, looks a bit dirty. Rocky head with decent retention and lacing. Aroma of wheat, alcohol, sage and soap. The taste is dominated by the harshness of the alcohol and the yeast. Notes of cereal grain and mild bitterness. This is perhaps a style that shouldn’t be imperialized. BückDich (4848), McCall, Idaho, USA
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 12/20 | Feb 7, 2008 Bottle: Hazy shimmering gold with a full sticky head and nice textured lacing. The nose is musty with light alcohol and wheat, some fruity but no where near citrus hops, and a touch of plum. The flavor is fruity and strong like a malt liquor but with more of an ale level of hops. The finish is sweet and sticky, too much alcohol and wheat. Fruity esters clog up most of the nose and there’s nothing left to enjoy. As it warms, it’s even more vegetal and....bad. cgort (52), mission viejo, California, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Feb 7, 2008 Pours a cloudy, pale orange color. The smell reminded me of when I was younger... Not sure why. It had some hop flavor, and was quite light and refreshing. Not very complex but still very refreshing. Overall I think I would buy this again. ratman197 (3222), Arvada, Colorado, USA
