| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Sep 8, 2002 Reddish body is closer to an English pale ale in looks although head formation is light. Initial citric hop aroma soon gives way to a little butterscotch which also comes through on the palate. A slight herb and grainy dryness makes a nice accompaniement while the finish shows some bubble gum and clove before the Cascades bite in at the back and just offer a nice but restrained citrus. Clean malt aftertaste. A Cascade infused English bitter? KingPinHead (390), Des Moines, Washington, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jul 9, 2002 Attractive light copper color with medium head. Aroma equally attractive, with floral accents. Flavor is sort of ’bi-polar’--that is, one distinctively tastes the malt bottom and the assertive hop top end, but they seem quite separate, not blended or quite in total harmony. Finish is fairly dry but almost without taste. This doesn’t quite fit the typical profile of either an English or American Pale, but for those favoring a hoppy balance, will satisfy in any category.
