Commercial Description:
A rich, full-bodied winter warmer crafted in the British tradition of holiday beers. This deep mahogany colored brew balances complex fruit flavors with a refreshingly smooth texture.

Deep, dark color; garnet; light tan, almost fizzy head that disappears to nothing. Deep aroma of dark fruits, caramel, and light chocolate. Flavor is slightly tangy, with more chocolate; very malty; drier than the aroma leads you to believe; actually somewhat roasty and fairly bitter to balance out the strong flavor up front. Very nice mouthfeel; becomes silky and frothy in the mouth. Overall it’s just kind of forgettable, unfortunately.

On tap at O’Brien’s. Appearance is an opaque amber/brown hue, thin layer of off-white bubbles, fair lacing on the glass. Smell is dark fruits (raisins), spices (cinnamon, ginger, allspice), caramel malts in the background, quite subtle overall. Taste is mostly raisins and dark fruits followed by slight alcohol warming and winter spices, finishes dry and sweet. Mouthfeel is medium-bodied, watery texture, mild carbonation. Drinkability low, this is a mediocre winter warmer with the requisite spices and malt but little else in the way of uniqueness or innovation, would not get again.

I thought this was an excellent winter warmer. Poured a clear mahogany color with minimal head. Aroma was piney with some malt. Flavor had caramel malt and pine hops. Great beer.

The aroma has deep toasted malt, piny hops and caramel. The appearance is mahogany with an average head. The flavor is like the aroma with a bitter finish. The palate is thin. Overall a decent but not great beer.

Good offering from Pyramid. Bitter fruit and yeast balanced by spruce and hops. Some alcohol taste in the finish.
