TheBeerLover (1013), DC Metro Area, USA Apr 16, 2006 12 oz bottle purchased at the brewery in Staunton, VA. Pours to a beautiful, bright, deep amber to red color, with a soapy, white head that fades, and a good bit of carbonation. Not really much going on in the nose, just some light hints of sweet and stewed malt aroma. Palate is firm, with some sweet malt, and carmel flavor, with a hint of estery fruit. This beer finishes with more sweet malt up front, then ends with some mild hop bitterness that slightly lingers. Stylistically, not a very accurate example of Irish Red, but a nice, easy drinking, amber ale. A middle of the road type of beer. It is a good drinking beer, and would match well with a number of dishes.
