highlandlad (1187), Sydney, Australia Mar 27, 2005 Looks like lager... smells like lager... tastes like lager... but it’s a bitter? Okay... Blue Tongue is now supplying the relocated Brewery bar and restaurant with most of its "house" beers, so this may not be long for this world. And good riddance. It’s a pointless Tooheys New clone. Pale gold colour with a thin head. Aroma is of corn, wet cardboard and grassy hops. Thin bodied but acceptable for a pale lager. The flavour is of adjuncts. The only saving grace is some decent bitterness. Still, what’s the point in microbrewing if you produce identikit macro lagers? (Draught at the Brewery, Newcastle, 27/3/05) motelpogo (4111), Plzen, Czech Republic Feb 20, 2004 on tap at the brewery in newastle. why on earth the brewery has started making a mid strength tooheys new clone is beyond me. i was told that chuck hahn, the man behind hahn ice, was responsible for creating this beer. i guess you need a real expert to tell you how to come up with a beer with this little flavour. it's about time he went back home. hard to taste anything beyond adjuncts. corn sugar with no finish but at least a lasting head, hooray. a real disgrace that the brewery is neglecting its more adventurous house brews and serving up liquid muzak like this
