Maria (4418), Thisted, Denmark Aug 3, 2007 Dark orange with an aromatic, fruit aroma that has hints of caramel. The flavour is very fruity aromatic, slightly spicy citrus hints of caramel and a very long finish. The bitterness is nice, in my mouth it’s on the palate roof and the back of the tongue.. Charming indeed... 2415
omhper (10728), Stockholm, Sweden Jul 30, 2007 Draught at the brewpub. Hazy roast brown, rich creamy head. Aroma of butter, peat and toffee. Sweet, soft and lightly woody. Medium bodied with some spun sugar and butterscotch, and lots of chocolate. Light flowery bitterness that grows with time.
The brewer is constantly changing the recipe and altering the beer. I also got to try a newer batch, still not fully mature. This batch had a shorter time on oak barrels, clocking in at 5.8%. Being much younger it was more fruity and sparkling, and less malty and woody.
Both of the beers were interesting and tasty, although a bit rustic. A visit to the brewery restaurant is highly recommended!
