(Rating #2719)

500ml bottle, dark brown color, with a tan-colored head, yeasty, sweet toasted, caramelized malt, light chestnut, hazelnut, nutty nose, with some brown chocolate, toffee accents, with a light cookie dough, breadiness in the aroma follows through on a medium-bodied palate with a mild toasty, grainy, caramel malt, chocolatey, cookie dough character, with some toffee, nutty flavors, with a hint of black coffee, and some fruity raisiny, black cherry accents, leading towards a malty, chocolatey, lingering roasty bitterness finish.

Bottle: Poured a deep brown color ale with a rather large foamy head with good retention and minimal lacing. Aroma of deep caramel malt with a sweet finish. Taste is also dominated by some deep caramel malt with some well balanced sweetness. Hops do not play any major role in this beer. Body is quite full with good carbonation and no alcohol was apparent. Not complex but quaffable and enjoyable.

My Bottom Line:
Roasted chestnuts and toasted bread build a healthy body for this very drinkable and friendly pint of Brown Ale.

Further Personal Perceptions:
-A sheet of foam slowly dissipates into the nearly translucent, mahogany-hued brown.
-The underlying fruitiness of cherries adds complexity.
-Fennel is perceived in the nose upon warming.
-Hazelnut sweetness is well levelled.
-Carbonation is smooth, making this almost quenching.
-The finish is mostly malty again with subtle wooden hop dryness. Hop presence is otherwise very low throughout.

Bottle.

Flaske.
