Commercial Description:
Rader Ambrée is the subtle aromatization of a beer brewed in the ancient-way, re-fermented in its bottle, with a distillate of grain which has undergone a prolonged ageing process in oak casks. The primary fermentation is made with the same selected grains for the mash tubbing and the distillate. The distillate, aged in oak casks, is then added to the mash tub just before the re-fermentation in the bottle.

Bottle marked 06/06/09 thanks to bu11zeye. Pours with a large, white head over a hazed golden body. Aroma of lemon, light spice, caramel and brandy. Taste is alcohol, malt, caramel, spiced bread, a bit of oak and corn sweetness. Lively bubbles.

Bottle from case and keg. Amber pour, big beige head. Aroma is a typical BSA. Toffee, yeast, brown sugar and fruit. Flavor is a bit understated with some malty sweetness, wet wood and darker fruits. All in all just average at best.

Consumed 04/22/09 with bottle stated best buy date of 06/06/09, just made it. I wasn’t too surprised by the modest gushing this thing did upon opening. It pours light amber with initially very tall tan head and cobweb lacing. The aroma is full emitting a mix of brown sugar and caramel notes as well as a layer of smooth dark fruitiness. The taste is smooth, near velvety and sweet with blended rich and indistinguishable dark fruit esters to go along with a decent load of sugar and caramel sweetness. By midway I start to get sugar drenched dark berries, concord grapes and sweet ripe caramel dipped apples. It finishes with just a hint of the ABV and lingering brown sugar and caramel sweetness.

Candied Belgian aroma, light caramel and vanilla/alcohol vapors. Frothy head, good sturdy bottle. Initially, I got a sweet candied impression, but as the glass wore on, the boozy wood bitterness came through strongly. Medium body, clingy wood/herbal bitterness in the finish. Fair, but warming.

Cloudy bronze/amber color with a thick foamy white head that lasts forever and leaves thick frothy lacing. Fruity nose of plum and raisins with subtle alcohol notes. Taste of plums, raisins and wood, with the alcohol clearly obvious, but it a good way, reminiscent of brandy. A warming brandy-like effect as it goes down and a sweet brandy like finish.

33 cl. bb midnight of D-Day 2009. Lightly murky orange-copper with tiny yeast particles that make an appealing glassful of swirling bubbles. Near to an inch of enduring creamy foam leaves behind a nice frosting on the glass. Aroma of light-fruit blend topped with rum and brown sugar. Flavor is oak, lightly peppery resin, spiced apples, brown sugar, vinous alcohol, vanilla, and touches of dark fruit and leather. Medium body is smooth, slightly watery in a dangerously drinkable way, and finishes with just a touch of alcohol warmness and pleasantly oaky-dry.
