Commercial Description:
Rader Ambrée is the subtle aromatization of a beer brewed in the ancient-way, re-fermented in its bottle, with a distillate of grain which has undergone a prolonged ageing process in oak casks. The primary fermentation is made with the same selected grains for the mash tubbing and the distillate. The distillate, aged in oak casks, is then added to the mash tub just before the re-fermentation in the bottle.

Bottle, 10.5%. Spicy, citric aroma. The flavour is quite yeasty. The alcohol is quite apparant in the flavour and aftertaste. There is a strange plasticky bitterness in the aftertaste somehow. Must be from the jenever.

33 cL bottle. Pours hazy brown with a huge off-white head. Wineous fruity and yeasty spiced aroma. Sweet fruity flavour. Light yeasty note. Light alcohol bite towards the finish. Lingering yeasty and caramel malt finish. Beer blended with whiskey, no wonder it is alcohol dense.

Draft. Golden beer with an off-white head. Light yeasty, light malt aroma. Yeasty, light malt flavor with light spice and light fruity esters. Medium body. Caramel lingers with light yeast and very light playdough.

Bottle. Huge, crwamy, off-white lasting head with good lacing.Heavy lalt aroma of grain, bread and caramel. Average hops aroma of flowers. heavy in alcohol. Full body, creamy texture soft carbonation and a bitter-metallic finish. The flavor has an average duration, is moderate/heavy sweet and light/moderate bitter.

Copper amber with a large white head and hazy masses of floating debris. Rarely have I seen such an ugly beer. It gets a rare 1 for appearance. The aroma is much more promising: honey malt, yeast and alcohol are a heady combination. The taste has sweetness, sour alcohol, dark fruits and a lovely rather basic leathery taste. There’s a little bitterness, but the main impression is malt.

Deep orange, hazy, small head. Sweet soft palate. Very malty, very pleasant. This beer is so not 10.5%, so very pleasant to drink - a stealth beer that’s for sure. This is not just an ambree - it’s less sweet than a typical one, and has a woody bent to the generous malt. Very well balanced. Potent but very subtle, and understated. Danes and yanks please take note!

Bottle. [thank you, Yespr]
Pours a beautiful deep amber with a stunning, big, creamy white head. Good duration with lots of bubbles reaching up from the bottom of my glass. Aroma is lightly funky, some oak along with prunes, oranges, raisins and yeast. High to medium carbonation, rather light feel. Flavour is rather sweet, lots of caramel - the dark fruits are still there, but more subdued than in the aroma. A light nuttyness sets in with the aftertaste along with a good warming viniousness. Good brew and a bit underrated imo.
