Commercial Description:
Rader Ambrée is the subtle aromatization of a beer brewed in the ancient-way, re-fermented in its bottle, with a distillate of grain which has undergone a prolonged ageing process in oak casks. The primary fermentation is made with the same selected grains for the mash tubbing and the distillate. The distillate, aged in oak casks, is then added to the mash tub just before the re-fermentation in the bottle.

(750ml bottle, best by 6/6/09) yeast-flecked straw body topped by large off-white head. Aroma is medium sweet, pepper, herb, wood, some alcohol. Taste is moderately sweet, candied pear, some pepper, peach/peach syrup, candi sugar, light alcohol, blueberry. Fairly dry finish, some alcohol. Sticky full body.

33cl bottle from Dranken Geers. Clear amber, lasting thin beige head. Bit of woodiness, some syrupy malt. It’s got some decent malt and toffee, bit sweet, got a bit of mustiness on the finish. Not wonderful to be honest.

Amber color with a big cloudy head. Aroma has lots of sweetish yeast, wheat and lemon. Medium-bodied. Woody oaky flavor dominates flavor, then sweet fruity yeast. Hops and alcohol come in the finish. Personal and quite enjoyable.

Warm amber with a nice and lasting head. The aroma is sweet with notes of caramel/malt. The mouthfeel is full and the flavour is sweet, malty and citrussy and the maturing in the oak barrels is evident. The finish is spicy and I think it’s juniper I find...

Beer gushes out of the bottle. Huge head. Only slight juniper aroma, the malt dominates.mSweet, malty flavor with juniper berries and genever, slightly artificial. This beer is much more balanced as the Rader Blonde, although the alcohol dominates.

Bottle. [thank you, Yespr]
Pours a beautiful deep amber with a stunning, big, creamy white head. Good duration with lots of bubbles reaching up from the bottom of my glass. Aroma is lightly funky, some oak along with prunes, oranges, raisins and yeast. High to medium carbonation, rather light feel. Flavour is rather sweet, lots of caramel - the dark fruits are still there, but more subdued than in the aroma. A light nuttyness sets in with the aftertaste along with a good warming viniousness. Good brew and a bit underrated imo.
