Commercial Description:
Rader Ambrée is the subtle aromatization of a beer brewed in the ancient-way, re-fermented in its bottle, with a distillate of grain which has undergone a prolonged ageing process in oak casks. The primary fermentation is made with the same selected grains for the mash tubbing and the distillate. The distillate, aged in oak casks, is then added to the mash tub just before the re-fermentation in the bottle.

Bready, yeasty bite and doughy simplicity...Luscious, creamy body with lots of lacing...A little bitterness in the back, peppery honey daydreams and a weak aftertaste...

(bottle) Hazy amber coloured hue with loads of floaties swimming around and a medium-sized frothy off-white head with lace. Sweet malty and fruity nose with a strong but not unpleasant (vinous) alcoholic note. Sweet flavour, full bodied, medium carbonated. Malty, nutty and fruity taste; sweet malty and (hazel)nutty finish with a well integrated alcoholic note.

Bottle. It’s mostly clear, except for some mini-floaties in the yellow-golden body. A small, dense off-white head sits on the top, and leaves some fine lacings. I find the aroma a bit too weak. Spices, pale malts and fruits. The flavor is almost grainy, quite fruity and spiced, with a nice bitterness. Full-bodied and warming, and a lasting finish with the flavors found initially. A pleasant and tasteful beer that I would like a bit more pronounced on the aroma. (090605)

There wasn’t much of an attempt to hide the alcohol in this drink. It pours a pale amber with some suspended particles and creamy white head. The aroma is a sweet malt with a sharp alcohol stab. Some bitter cherries are added to the flavor, but the alcohol dominates the finish.

Dark bronze color with scads of fish food floating about. A few cm. of off white foam on top. Decent lace. A mild shaking convulsion when first sniffed. Between the big sweetness and the alcohol a quick, quiver/shake overtook me. Stewed raisins, fermenting pears, some light spice all in the mix. Strong fruit flavors awash in light alcohol. HInts of caramel and spice. Spice as much from the alcohol then from the yeast. Light oak backdrop. This was meant for a cold night by the fire. Quick light and bubbly feel. Stomach and back of the throat is starting to warm. A bit too sweet and more alcohol than needed (IMHO). Stewed fruit keep coming to mind.

Bottled. Sweet malts and gin aroma. Amber color, fine particals floating around, white head, very nice lace. Sweet, malty, gin well present in the flavor but not annoying, light apple, warming and soft. I was expecting much less, not bad at all.

Good combination of bitterness and sweetness. Very alcholic on the palate with a hint of pepper.

Thought I had already rated this one. HAzy amber pour with off-white head. Aroma is malty, with some brown sugary notes, some funky yeasty notes, and some figgy notes. Stays velvety on the palate. Nicely done.
