Commercial Description:
Rader Ambrée is the subtle aromatization of a beer brewed in the ancient-way, re-fermented in its bottle, with a distillate of grain which has undergone a prolonged ageing process in oak casks. The primary fermentation is made with the same selected grains for the mash tubbing and the distillate. The distillate, aged in oak casks, is then added to the mash tub just before the re-fermentation in the bottle.

Sampled at joebrew’s Sunday BBQ, pours a hazy golden amber brew with an average off-white head that quickly dissolves to a ring. Aroma of sweet bready malt, hard fruits with a bit of alcohol on top of any hop presence. Taste is medium bodied, well carbonated with a sweet bread flavor and plenty of alcohol. Finish is slighly metalic from the alcohol, spritzy and a slight dry gin aftertaste.

Bottled, BB 6/6/09. Poured medium golden-amber with a lovely, creamy cap of white head and lacing.. lots of fine sediment suspended in there. The aroma was very fruity and yeasty with pears, green apples, and orange zest present.. maybe a tad too sweet, but still warm and inviting. The flavor opened with heavier pale malt and honey impression, opening into a spicy, rather muddled middle with the aforementioned warm malts, peppery spices, and herbal notes. Heavier-bodied, sweet, and hot on the palate with OK balance.. left some green apple skins on the finish. OK.

This corked and caged bottled brew from a bottle shop poured a small sized head of foamy finely sized off-white colored bubbles that were mostly lasting and left behind a hazy strongly carbonated dark orange colored body. The mild aroma was malty. The crisp mouth feel was tingly at the start and at the finish mild vinous hop aftertaste. The flavor contained notes of malt mild hops brown malt and orange peel. A decent one that I would consider buying again yet unidimensional.

Bottle. Pours a copper amber body with an off white head. Fruity apple salty malt character plum and caramel with a modest warming. Light oaky character with some light vanilla notes.

Draft at Taphouse-Queensway. Lightish tea-colored brew with a quiety surrendering white foam head. Just a very light fruity aroma. The flavor is a tad bit more robust, still fruity. Pretty light in body, not unlike a spiced tea. Wonder what the ABV is because it’s so easy to drink (never would’ve guessed 10%). Sweet and sugary Belgian brew. (#2987, 6/23/2007)

(Bottled) Hazy amber color with floating yeast clumps. Slightly sour aroma, slightly alcoholic and cardboardy. Somewhat sweet, toffeeish flavor with some genever feeling. Medium-bodied, quite low-carbonated, slightly alcoholic palate. Hides the ABV very well. Not nearly as genevery as the blonde, but still quite pleasant and drinkable.

Amber with a large lasting egg white foam. Yeast, malts & light alcohol dominates throughout. Filling body. Good spicy taste & light alcohol warmth. Good lacings. Very well made!

Shared at Joebrew’s BBQ; no clue who brought it. Dark amber color with a medium head. Spicy aroma and something that smells like alcohol left in an open bottle for a few days. Bitter honey taste and some slightly sour encrusted oak. Not horrible, but definitely different.
