Commercial Description:
Rader Ambrée is the subtle aromatization of a beer brewed in the ancient-way, re-fermented in its bottle, with a distillate of grain which has undergone a prolonged ageing process in oak casks. The primary fermentation is made with the same selected grains for the mash tubbing and the distillate. The distillate, aged in oak casks, is then added to the mash tub just before the re-fermentation in the bottle.

From a 750 ml bottle. A new arrival at John’s Grocery in Iowa City. The body is medium gold with a slight haze. The long lasting head is large and white. The aroma has an earthy musk of some leather with some pancakes. There is also a bit of alcohol. The taste is sweet peaches with almonds in the strong booze. There is also a little bit of cinnamon spice in the finish. The body a little thick and syrupy.

A hazy orange beer with a thick off-white head. The aroma is sweet with notes of coriander and caramel. The flavor is sweet alcoholic, combined with notes of malt, caramel, coriander, and over ripe fruit. It has a nice body.

I like these strong ales. Bottled sample from the MLCC. Nice bubbles (I like those bubbles). Fairly spicy. Drinkable.

Brown bottle, 33 cl, best before 01/2010, via Importations Privées Bièropholie, savoured on July 10 2008: eye: dark caramel, hazy, suspended matter, lots of tan head made up of rather small bubbles and that looks like melted ice cream as it falls, good lacing, no effervescence; nose: alcohol and spices pierce the head, caramelized malt, coriander, lightly stale, yeast, light orange; mouth: lots of caramelized malt, lightly stale, alcohol, light hops, light Cointreau, finale in caramelized malt with a hint of pepper and alcohol, rather sweet, slightly bitter, not much carbonation (feels almost dead), medium body, hide its alcohol very well; overall: disappointing FRANÇAIS Bouteille brune, 33 cl, meilleure avant 01/2010, via Importations Privées Bièropholie, savourée le 10 juillet 2008; œil : caramel foncé, voilée, matière en suspension, mousse fauve importante formée de bulles petites, bonne dentelle qui ressemble à de la crème glacée fondue lorsqu’elle tombe, pas d’effervescence; nez : alcool et épices percent la mousse, en rétro-olfaction, malt caramélisé, coriandre, légèrement éventée, levure, léger orange; bouche : gros malt caramélisé, légèrement éventée, alcool, léger houblon, léger Cointreau, finale en malt caramélisé avec pointe de poivre et d’alcool, plutôt sucrée, texture crémeuse, très légèrement amère, peu carbonatée (j’écrirais même qu’elle est « morte »), corps moyen, cache très bien son alcool; en résumé : déçu

11.2 oz bottle-Pours a hazy orangish body with the bottom of the bottle sitting right in the middle and all the floaties looking like they are stuck in Jell-O. Also a nice tight off white head. Aroma of malt, caramel, yeast, and candy sweetness. Taste of yeast, alcohol, malt, sweetness, and a dry finish. Not a bad tasting brew.
