Commercial Description:
Rader Ambrée is the subtle aromatization of a beer brewed in the ancient-way, re-fermented in its bottle, with a distillate of grain which has undergone a prolonged ageing process in oak casks. The primary fermentation is made with the same selected grains for the mash tubbing and the distillate. The distillate, aged in oak casks, is then added to the mash tub just before the re-fermentation in the bottle.

Had this at Le Bier Circus on 5-13-03. Nice golden blonde. Strong alcohol aroma along with malt. Taste expands on that with a stronger malt, alcohol, and slightly whisky-ish presence. Maybe peach as well. Supposedly this has gin added to it at some point and there is that dryness from gin in this beer, especially during the finish. Has a nice whitish head and decent carbonation.

mild in flavour and approach, grape like vinty with heavy yeast notes and some fig and preserve notes. rather unintrusive, but enjoyably round.

Partly cloudy golden body with lots and lots of particles. Medium short-lived white head. Aroma is floral, alcohol and a fruity notes that I’d describe as pumpkin seeds. Body is pleasantly smooth and oily. Taste is fruity yeast, candied fruits (pears, oranges), thick flower juice and alcohol. Hops are either inexpressive or killed by the alcohol. Sweetness is moderate to high. Pleasant typical Belgium carbonation. I got used to the alcohol fairly quickly and after a few sips I was enjoying the beer. Unfortunately that the Belgian beer scene is filled with similar but inferior strong blonde ales and most of them are just a blip on the Rader Ambrée.

Light amber beer with a white head. A unpleasent aroma that is difficult to describe. Sweetish flavor. Nicely balanced.

Bottle from case and keg. Amber pour, big beige head. Aroma is a typical BSA. Toffee, yeast, brown sugar and fruit. Flavor is a bit understated with some malty sweetness, wet wood and darker fruits. All in all just average at best.

A violent beer. Like being beaten up by some punkers in a dark night in November 1984. Pretty alcoholic and strong!

(750ml bottle, best by 6/6/09) yeast-flecked straw body topped by large off-white head. Aroma is medium sweet, pepper, herb, wood, some alcohol. Taste is moderately sweet, candied pear, some pepper, peach/peach syrup, candi sugar, light alcohol, blueberry. Fairly dry finish, some alcohol. Sticky full body.
