Commercial Description:
Rader Ambrée is the subtle aromatization of a beer brewed in the ancient-way, re-fermented in its bottle, with a distillate of grain which has undergone a prolonged ageing process in oak casks. The primary fermentation is made with the same selected grains for the mash tubbing and the distillate. The distillate, aged in oak casks, is then added to the mash tub just before the re-fermentation in the bottle.

Draft and 50cL corked bottle under license with Himmerod Abbey in Grosslittgen, DE. It seems like a blend between a tripel and dubbel. The deep amber color reminds me of a dubbel but the nice, slightly sweet flavor trends towards a dubbel. The slight alcohol flavor is warming like a tripel though. Good carbonation and a slowly settling head make this a good bier.

Bottle marked 06/06/09 thanks to bu11zeye. Pours with a large, white head over a hazed golden body. Aroma of lemon, light spice, caramel and brandy. Taste is alcohol, malt, caramel, spiced bread, a bit of oak and corn sweetness. Lively bubbles.

330ml bottle.
Pours a slightly hazy brown orange with a one finger white head that stays a while. Fruity aroma with some yeast, banana, and wheat notes as well as a sweet coffee toffee scent. The taste holds some citrus and peel in addition to yeast and wheat once more. The alcohol is quite present but I suppose that’s to be expected. Nice for sipping. Pretty good.

Cloudy orange-copper with a creamy off-white head that lingers for a good while. Sweet malty initial taste with hints of Molasses. Yeasty finish. Good tasting beer.

Pours a copperish color with a white head. Lacing is good. Smells of malt and fruit. Taste sweet like pears and toffee. Very nice beer but not the top of the line BSA.

On tap at Max’s. Hazy pour with a white head. Spicy aroma. Very strange taste. Grassy and earthy with herbs....maybe rosemary or thyme. Bitter finish. Not bad, just weird.
