Assurbanipaul (40), Fort Worth, Texas, USA Apr 14, 2007 Pours a clear light gold with a tall, white rocky head. Aroma is light toasted grains and a grassy, floral base, a little nutty, a little spicy.
Taste is a very light pale malt with a crisp hop bitterness. Only a very shallow presence of any traditional pine or citrus, and then only at the front. Everything else is floral, dried hay and Sazzy. Overall quite bitter, not much sweetness at all.
Mouthfeel is light and clean, finish leaves the palate dry. Drinkability is extremely high, even quaffable. Might impress some as a hoppy, heavier pilsner if not for that touch of citrus. A successful experiment as a "German IPA," IMO. Cereviseator (12), USA Jun 6, 2007 Not sure whats "German interpretation" of an IPA is, but this is a solid effort. More of an american pale ale. Deep amber-gold with a thick head that lasts...nice lacing. Nice spicy, herbal hop aroma. Resiny hop flavor with a touch of maltiness and long, dry finish. Swalden_28 (536), McKinney, Texas, USA Feb 24, 2008 Updated: May 20, 2008Very nice IPA.....poured a nice light golded color with exellent rocky head retention that laced the glass...Aroma was nice...fuity, floral, and hoppy....Flavor was great, malty with a nice tang with a smooth bitter kick....would have again! This is an great starter IPA or an IPA for those that don’t like alot of hoppy bitterness....Very smooth beer. This is the only IPA that I have actually liked... Kevin (1765), Colorado, USA Dec 13, 2007 bottle from lumpy. light hazed yellow sticky white head. aroma is a bit different than i expected, floral and at first whiff i thought skunk, then i got a better whiff. it is a yeasty hop mix that is earthy & floral. i like the malt flavor that hides under the hops, a bit of tree bark with a less sweet caramel if that makes any sense. the hops are dominant but not overpowering. a bit of orange in the finish. spicey hop notes work well w/the light caramel.
