Commercial Description:
It's our very first beer - golden medium-bodied and brewed as a traditional Munich Helles style pale lager. It features a rounded maltiness without being too heavy. And like every proud Texan, it has a good head, is pleaseant but never overly sweet.

Reviewed 11/2/2009 (bottle): Pours a very light, clear dark yellow color body, with a big head, white, lasting. Vegetably aroma, grassy. I wish these smelled more enticing. Light taste, mostly clean aftertaste. Carbonated, grassy tasting. Not my style. Letting warm up a bit…a little better, but still not my first choice in almost any situation.

Light hazy lemon yellow in appearance. Sweet malt aroma that’s hard to detect or place. Some citrus flavor with a hint of sweet cream (nice). Overall this is a good brew for session drinking in the TX heat.

I’m not into the helles style, but this is bad as it goes. The faint citrus is a nice addition.

Hazy golden pour that gained some clarity as it settled. The head was white and short with no lacing. The aroma was of wheat and citrus. The flavor was malt overrun quickly by tart citrus. Thin mouthfeel. The metallic, citrus flavor on the finish made me want to drink this fast and be done with it, so I did.

12 oz bottle courtesy of Ericandersnavy. Pours a cloudy dark yellow color with a small white head that soon fades to a fine film. The aroma is mild with white fruits and yeast. The flavor is light with mild pears, biscuit, yeast and a bit of cardboard. The mouthfeel is light and crisp. The finish is short and dry. Overall: a very sessionable helles style that goes down well on hot summer day while remodeling my bathroom. Thanks Eric.

Bottle. Pours a hazy yellow golden with a medium frothy white head that lasts awhile leaving behind good sticky lacing along the glass. The aroma is very fruity and yeast with citrus. Thin moutfeel with a very sweet fruit taste with a nice spicy finish. Easy to drink and very refreshing, a very good Helles from Rahr.

I give this beer high marks for doing a great job of tasting very much like the true German helles. Reminds me of the Shiner 99 which is also a Texas born helles style brew. Good beer for drinking sessions. Try this one if you have the occasion.
