Hits the mouth with a medium body, you can tell the malt is slightly roasted, and possibly old, finish ends a little bitter. A bit different from what I’m used to in an oktoberfest brew. | 1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 1/10 | 4/5 | 1/10 | 1/5 | 3/20 | Nov 10, 2007 Bottle. Pours a rich, deep amber with a semi-lively body. Smells like peppermint mixed with the whiff of ass one sometimes smells after bending over while naked for an extended period of time. Flavor is weak vegetable vinegar with rotten fruit in the finish. Watery palate. Barely drinkable. pintsize (1042), Austin, Texas, USA

Overall - not enjoyable at all for me. Maybe I got a bad batch - but I am not sure I am willing to try much more of this to find that out. ucusty (1908), Wake Forest, North Carolina, USA

| 1.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 3/5 | 2/10 | 2/5 | 4/20 | Oct 28, 2007 Rich maroon pour with a slight bit of cloudiness and a beige head. More importantly though, it smelled and tasted spoiled but it was bought almost immediately after being released... Musty, thick tart malt smell. Very sour, lemony, spoiled taste. Not good. bland and almost rotten tasting. I literally couldn’t take a 4th sip for the rating even, and cringed as I brought it to my mouth. I’d say it was an old bottle, but I know it wasn’t. | 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Oct 17, 2007 Bottle thanks to RollinHard: Pours a transparent dark amber mahogany with a thin-lacing wispy off-white head. Aroma of toasty, grainy German malts with a hint of noble hops and mild tartness. Starts with a touch of caramel sweetness, quickly drying out toward a thinner, semi-tart doughy finish. Almost tastes like it’s in the early stages of an infection, but is otherwise pretty true to style. Assurbanipaul (40), Fort Worth, Texas, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Oct 1, 2007 Pours a dark clear amber with a ruby tint and a shallow head. Aroma is light, some nondescript malt.
Taste is roasty malt, almost like plain toasted whole-grain bread. Grainy flavors, light nuttiness, well-caramelized malts, seems like a blend of many. A mild sweetness and a faint oven-roasted, coffee-like presence. Not a strong hop presence at all.
Mouthfeel is medium to light, very smooth and easy to drink. Much maltier, more body than most US O-fests. Like drinking a piece of dry toast made from heavy bread. redgold07 (308), Irving, Texas, USA

On tap @ Dutch’s Burgers (TCU): pours a mahogany/amber with a nice white head. Great malty taste that finishes well. Great with a meal.
12 oz. bottle: pours a mahogany/ruby color with an off-white head. Malty taste that reminds me of a bock beer with a little spice.
