Beer pours a very rich copper color with a dissipating off white head. Aroma is sweet with lots of caramel malts and a bit of yeastiness. Flavor is really nice especially as an O’fest. Really rich, sweet malty flavor with caramel, light hoppiness and earthy yeast. Nice beer from Rahr!

Pours a dark clear amber with a ruby tint and a shallow head. Aroma is light, some nondescript malt. Taste is roasty malt, almost like plain toasted whole-grain bread. Grainy flavors, light nuttiness, well-caramelized malts, seems like a blend of many. A mild sweetness and a faint oven-roasted, coffee-like presence. Not a strong hop presence at all. Mouthfeel is medium to light, very smooth and easy to drink. Much maltier, more body than most US O-fests. Like drinking a piece of dry toast made from heavy bread.

Great Oktoberfest brew from the local boys. On tap @ Dutch’s Burgers (TCU): pours a mahogany/amber with a nice white head. Great malty taste that finishes well. Great with a meal. 12 oz. bottle: pours a mahogany/ruby color with an off-white head. Malty taste that reminds me of a bock beer with a little spice.

Tried this one on tap at the Flying Saucer. Pretty rose appearance. Subtle aroma and taste to match.

Pours a clear tannish ruby with an off-white short-lived head. Interesting aroma, with some caramel, toffee, hazelnut, and a bit of coffee? Yup. Tastes of caramel and toffee, toast with slight salty and/or cheese taste to it, Finishes with subtle roasty flavor that I like in Oktoberfests, a bit of that coffee flavor coming out here too. Mouthfeel is too slick and not creamy enough for me, but the carbonation is right and it’s not watery. Compared to Flying Dog and Saint Arnold, this one is a good deal better. Not hot either, though I heard the ABV is in the 7-8% range. Good stuff, just imagine an Oktoberfest version of their Winter Warmer, and you’ve got a good idea what this is like. A bit overpiced for what is though.

Bottle courtesy of ericandersnavy. Pours copper with a thin white head. Smells earthy and citrussy with a hint of residual sugar. Tastes of caramel, light spice and touches of pepper.

Bottle: Dark amber color with very light head. Thse nose is sweet and malty with some up front cherry and raisin and some bready caramel notes in the tail. The flavor is balanced, nice malty body and chewy mouthfeel with some more fruits in the finish. A little sweet, but good drinking.

On tap at the brewery and in a bottle. Tap is much better. Deep orange pour with a weak white head. Malts, caramel, and nuts. Not their greatest, but still pretty good.
