bhensonb (4182), Woodland, California, USA Sep 16, 2009 Bottle as Buffalo Butt; thanks to ericandersnavy. Pours a ruby amber with a three finger tan head. Nice mildly roasted malt aroma. Medium body with frothy carbonation. A hint of sour, perhaps, with mild herb/hop and light caramel. It’s certainly bitter, but in a mild way. Probably good for washing down food. blutt59 (2042), Dallas, Texas, USA Aug 17, 2009 draft, amber with no foam, malty caramel aroma with an oddly iced tea flavor with some malty notes, not bad overall Earlier Rating: 10/10/2008 Total Score: 2.7 bottle, dark cola colored pour with a good frothy tan head, nose of sweet malt, flavor is flat caramel with a watery bitter finish travita (1851), Frisco, Texas, USA Aug 16, 2009 On tap at the ballpark in Arlington last night. Amber to brown in color with a thin beige colored head. The smell is caramel, malts, roast, grains. The taste is the weak, some malts, some hops. Better than Bud. Earlier Rating: 3/18/2008 Total Score: 2.5 Amber to red in color with an ok head. Aroma is malty with a touch of hops and that goes for the flavor as well. Some biscuit like flavors as well. Seemed weak and watery though. drowland (1360), Tallahassee, Florida, USA Aug 14, 2009 Got this in a trade from Cavie. Light body with a hint of malt and some sour flavors bu11zeye (5430), Frisco, Texas, USA Jul 1, 2009 (Draught) Pours an amber-brown body with a moderate beige head. Aroma of roasted nuts (dominates), earth, and caramel. Flavor of roasted malt, caramel, and grassy hops. Resembles more of a Vienna lager rather than a Premium. Earlier Rating: 1/9/2005 Total Score: 3.2 (Bottle) Pours a clear amber body with a small off-white head. Aroma of caramel and mild hops. Malt base flavor with caramel and hops. stefanje (937), (Santee) San Diego, California, USA Jun 25, 2009 12 oz bottle of Buffalo Butt courtesy of ericandersnavy. Pours a slightly cloudy amber-brown color with a small foamy beige head. The aroma is moderate and earthy with sweet malts, rye biscuit and dust. The flavor is light and indistinct until the finish kicks in and then I get iced tea, nuts, and bready malts. The palate is thin and metallic. Overall: I’m glad for the chance to try this as I kinda like weird named beers, but thats where the novelty ends, this is no Moose Drool. crajun (89), , Texas, USA Jun 25, 2009 bottle of Buffalo Butt.
appears I liked more than most..
couldy rusty pour with thin foamy head. Sweet malt aroma and taste.
Great first 1/2 of beer; not much in second half. Easy/smooth going down
will p/u a 6 pk Cavie (1317), Fort Worth, Texas, USA Jun 12, 2009 On tap at the BALLPARK!!!! Ok so this beer is only available at the Ballpark in Arlington, and it is not the same as the Rahr red or the buffalo butt, contrary to what the stupid beer salesmen might say. It is VERY dark for a premium lager, but that’s better than most. Dark brown. Little aroma. Highly roasted taste. Roasted caramel and burnt nuts. Very dark for a lager, yet highly enjoyable. I prefer this over any of the macro lights that they offer at the park, especially if I’m gonna pay 8.50 for one beer! BTW, FIRST TO RATE!!! Earlier Rating: 2/9/2008 Total Score: 3.1 This beer had a medium body, slick feel, average carbonation, long finish, a nutty flavour. It was rather woody, amber colored with a hint of orange but very clear. When poured, it left a white foam. I would characterize this as medium sweet, very bitter, but lightly sour beer.
