Commercial Description:
Rahr's Red is a delicious, medium-bodied amber beer. As it crosses over your tongue, you'll notice a bit of caramel-like malt character. You'll also notice a slight hops bitterness-there to remind you that despite its subtle flavoring Rahr's Red is a Texas beer.

On tap at the BALLPARK!!!! Ok so this beer is only available at the Ballpark in Arlington, and it is not the same as the Rahr red or the buffalo butt, contrary to what the stupid beer salesmen might say. It is VERY dark for a premium lager, but that’s better than most. Dark brown. Little aroma. Highly roasted taste. Roasted caramel and burnt nuts. Very dark for a lager, yet highly enjoyable. I prefer this over any of the macro lights that they offer at the park, especially if I’m gonna pay 8.50 for one beer! BTW, FIRST TO RATE!!!

This beer had a medium body, slick feel, average carbonation, long finish, a nutty flavour. It was rather woody, amber colored with a hint of orange but very clear. When poured, it left a white foam. I would characterize this as medium sweet, very bitter, but lightly sour beer.

12 oz bottle (labeled "Buffalo Butt"), thanks to Soonah. Pours a hazy rust color with respectable off-white head. The aroma is quite toasty with some faint caramel hints, a bit of iced tea, shoe polish, and super-ripe papaya. The flavor is lightly toasted malts, a little bit of herbal hop, and some distant fruity notes. The finish is slightly dry and carbonic, leaving a faint leathery aftertaste. Not bad for what it is.

Bottle sampled was named Buffalo Butt. Small nose with no hops and a hint of malt. Quite clear, head is thin but does form a nice lace. Over attenuated and thin, very one dimensional. Tart and a bit sour with more carbonation than expected. An appropriately named beer.

tap at Dallas/Fort Worth airport. Brown/read pour with thin foamy head. Lacing. Light aroma of sweet malts and floral hops, light fruit. Simple and smooth. Decent body. Flavor matches aroma with a light nuttiness.

A leafy, tannic aroma. About what you’d expect in the land of Shiner. Moderate acidity, moderate bittering, light nutty sweetness. Medium light body. Picked it up at a mini mart in Grapevine, TX. If you’re faced with a Rahr’s choice, then opt for the schwarz. Nothing very special.
