It has a sweet aroma that is slightly malty. Fairly carbonated and thin, but not a totally bad flavor. I’d prefer a bit more character, but oh well. Not bad, but not great either. Doesn’t stand out. | 2.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 4/10 | 2/5 | 10/20 | Apr 15, 2008 Poured into a Bob’s ’47 pint glass. Pours medium brown, slight reddish hue. Big thick creamy head sticks around. Smells of dark roast malt, coffee. Light on the palate. Thought it would be much more full tasting. Easy drinking with bitter aftertaste. It’s just too watery for my liking for this style. It’s not objectionable, but I sure as hell wouldn’t go out of my way for this either. kidmartinek (1001), austin, Texas, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Apr 11, 2008 A full amber color with a tint of red. A good pour, has a strong 1 inch thick and frothy off white head. Clear to see through and not many bubbles. Aroma of good malt, yeast and dough. Has that bready doughy taste like but its good. Reminds me of Fat Tire, but better. Rahr Red has a nice hop character. Smooth and creamy mouthfeel. Well behaved finish. Decent carbonation and bite, and I don’t think it’s artificial. This is a good beer. Should be enjoyed by more people. BMan1113VR (2943), Los Angeles (and Dallas), Texas, USA
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Apr 8, 2008 Updated: Apr 12, 2008Listed as Buffalo Butt. Large, lightbrown head that fizzes away quickly. Clear breown body. Basic, sweet, cereal malt aroma with some honey and spices. Watery, nutty, the salty taste. Pretty fizzy. Talked to the brewers at Rahr, Red and Buffalo Butt are the EXACT same beers, there is no difference, end of debate. unclemike (833), Ft. Riley, Kansas, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Mar 23, 2008 Updated: Mar 24, 2008Brewery Tour A very clear true amber that leans to the redder end of the amber spectrum. The head is a nice sized, slightly sticky foam with appropriate staying power. The aroma is light. The flavor is extrememly clean a light toast and caramel malt in the middle and a small, slightly metallic bitterness lingers in the finish. Borders on bland, but definitely a techinically flawless lager.
Earlier Rating: 3/23/2008 Total Score: 2.7 Stockyards ina bottle. poured almost a light soda color. tan head which stayed a while. Hints of orange. overall a good beer. jrob21 (1278), Atlanta, Georgia, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 12/20 | Mar 20, 2008 Toasty malt and caramel like aroma. Amber color that pours pretty clear with almost no head. Thanks to rollinhard for hooking me up with another tasty Tejas drink. Flavor is a little light but refreshing. Some bread, caramel, and prune flavors. Finish is quick and fades into a toasted bread deliciousness. mar (1945), Dallas, Texas, USA

Earlier Rating: 12/4/2007 Total Score: 2.6 white 2 finger head and a very dark amber color on the pour. the smell is not that appealing honestly but it tastes much better than it smells. dyetube (417), Dallas, Texas, USA
| 2.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 2/5 | 4/10 | 3/5 | 8/20 | Feb 20, 2008 this beer pours a deep reddish amber with a medium tan head. the aroma is crap (j/k lol). Actually it is a little malty with a hint of spices. almost like cinnamon. The flavors are not that impressive, medium carbonation with malts and maybe a hint of cinnamon... I really didn’t have too much hope for this beer. Oh Well... Not too bad to frink I guess but not really that good either. Cheers!
