Commercial Description:
During a fierce storm on his voyage across the ocean, William Rahr could be heard yelling from the tall masted ship: "Roll on old sea! And when you are done, when the storm clouds have destroyed themselves, we will still be standing and drinking!" Today, we have created the ultimate ale for a voyage such as this: A German-Style IPA - a traditional India Pale Ale with German Influence. Our German-Style IPA is brewed with a blend of all German malts, hops, and yeast. It has a rich maltiness with both floral and spicy hop characteristics. So get ready and hang on - Stormcloud will see you through your roughest seas and straight on to smooth sailing. Editor’s Note: This beer was reconfigured in 2009 with new hops and yeast.

Cask conditioned at the fall beer tasting at the Flying Saucer in Fort Worth. Slightly warm hazy and golden with a decent head. Hop flavor and taste but somewhat weak for an IPA.

Golden in color with a small white head. Above average carbonation. Very thin with a clean taste. The hop level is not that high. I’ve never heard of a German IPA. Overall I would say this beer is one of their better ones.

12 fl oz bottle. Pours cloudy yellow with a lacing white head. Grapefruit and citrus fruity aroma. Flavour is sweet and light citrus/peach fruity. Vague malt base but the flavour seems sweet as such from the fruity accents. Nice and smooth with a little bitterness coming through. Ends with a solid biterness.

12oz bottle thanks to mar. Pours a pale light golden with a small white head, very little lacing on mine. The nose doesnt bring much honestly. The taste, well if I was blindfolded I wouldnt guess IPA, Im not sure what I would guess. Taste some sweet malts, hops, citrus and some wheat characteristics.

Bottle: Pale gold, light white head and nice lacing. Nose of flat dry (not the verb, the adjective) hops, some sour malt and light yeast esters. The flavor is a little hoppy, but comes across as an underseasoned steak, just bland. Grassy tail.

(Bottle 35,5 cl) KAggie97. Pours a slightly hazy golden with a creamy off-white head. Lightly sweet malt and citrus in the aroma.. Medium body, fruity and lightly perfumy with a distinct hop bitter finish. Drinkable indeed but not exactly a spectacular IPA. 220608

Clear gold with a tight head. Aroma is yeasty, spicy peppercorn more like a Belgian Blond or Vienna lager. Smooth medium body. Flavor is mainly dry with bready pale malt and spicy yeast. Finishes nicely bitter. OK i get it now, a German style IPA.... different for sure.
