thirdeye11 (403), Texas, USA Nov 7, 2009 (draught at brewery) pours near blackbut clear and little to no head. Nose roasted malt, nuts, meat and bittersweet chocolate. Taste of roasted grains, nuts, dry cocoa. Finishes lightly bitter, nutty and creamy. HogTownHarry (3922), Toronto (Harbourfront), Ontario, Canada Oct 30, 2009 Bottle ( 12oz ). Shared by garthicus with me and blankboy. Dark brick red with a small frothy (everything’s frothy lately!) off-white head. Burnt roast grain aroma, unpleasantly vegetal and dry ... slightly smokey. Taste is mild and dry, sweet roast up-front but a dry sourness lurking ... not too good. Watery, still, with a stale, papery aftertaste. Not great. garthicus (1215), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Oct 28, 2009 Thanks to Blutt59. Appearance: Cola black/brown with a small dirty brown head. Aroma: Umm like someone ate a heap of malt and farted into the bottle! Sour. Malt, vinegar. Flavour: Thin, wet cardboard, grass, malt. Enjoyit (1697), Vadum, Denmark Oct 18, 2009 Deep brown of color with a beige head. An aroma of sweet liqurice and weak roasted malt. A flavor of roasted malt and weak bitter notes. NosirIwont (1162), Aalborg Vestby, Denmark Oct 17, 2009 Bottle. Pours dark brown with a beige head. Tart, roasted malt aroma. Slight notes of liquorice allsorts- Okay, but the tartness ruins it a bit. Flavour is dusty, tart and roasted and with cereal notes. A bit cloying. Finish is rather the same, but feels a bit watery. Too much carbonation. The tartness is a massive minus in this beer. 26-09-09. Birdiebeagle (777), Perkasie, Pennsylvania, USA Sep 30, 2009 Bottle Pours a nice black with a thin at best off white head. The head leaves quickly, leaves decent rings of lacing. The aroma is well mixed with a roast coffee to it, although there is hints of hops with it. Has a light carbonation. The flavor is good. Has just enough heaviness to make it stand up. Has a light body and a syrupy texture. The finish is good and a mild aftertaste. HenrikSoegaard (4263), Randers, Denmark Sep 28, 2009 Bottle. Frothy off-white fair mostly deminishing head. Dark red amber colour. Moderate malty and light hoppy aroma. Burnt notes. Moderate bitter flavor. Average moderate bitter finish. Prune and plumb notes. Oily palate. Fratto (670), Arlington, Texas, USA Sep 13, 2009 Black pour with a thin tan head, big roasted aroma, great coffee flavor, light feel. Dark and smooth. A consistently great Rahr beer.
