The head leaves quickly, leaves decent rings of lacing. The aroma is well mixed with a roast coffee to it, although there is hints of hops with it. Has a light carbonation. The flavor is good. Has just enough heaviness to make it stand up. Has a light body and a syrupy texture. The finish is good and a mild aftertaste. HenrikSoegaard (4379), Randers, Denmark

| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Sep 12, 2009 On tap at Brick House. Pours a dark brown almost black with a small light tan head that diminishes quickly. The aroma is roasted malt with raisin and caramel. Thin mouthfeel with a roasted malt with toffee and smoke. Easy to drink a good schwarzbier from Rahr. petematte46 (226), Dallas, Texas, USA

| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Aug 14, 2009 Got this in a trade from Cavie. Flavors like an American stout (minus the slight sour), but with a lighter body and mouthfeel. Big coffee flavors; I’d be surprised if they told me they hadn’t added coffee. stefanje (948), (Santee) San Diego, California, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jul 16, 2009 12 oz bottle courtesy of ericandersnavy. Pours a nearly opaque dark brown color with a medium head that is fizzy and soon dissipates to a fine film. The aroma is lageresque with a Heineken quality and some burnt malts. The flavor is more of the same, burnt malts and a bit of biscuit. The mouthfeel is thin and unremarkable. The finish is short and dry. Overall: Not a bad little schwartzbier, very sessionable. And, this paired very well with a peanut butter and jelly sandwich. Thanks Eric. bhensonb (4358), Woodland, California, USA

To whom I say thanks, cause I have no idea how I could have this otherwise!!! Very dark brown color with a decent tan head. Aroma of toasted dark malt. Medium plus body with frothy carbonation. Flavor is dark toasted malt. It’s not sweet, it’s not bitter, more or less. Balanced. Good as, or better than, anything the Deutschers brew. Nice dark flavors on through the finish.
