Poured a deeper reddish brown color with an averaged sized off white head. Aromas of roasted vegetables (reminded me of broccoli that was left on way too long), chcoloate, and light coffee. Tastes of roasted malts, chocolate, caramel, and light coffee. bu11zeye (5545), Frisco, Texas, USA

| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 11/20 | Dec 23, 2005 Bottle courtesy of Walt. Pours a nice mahogany dark amber color with an appetizing rocky, pillowy light tan head. Earthy grainy and semisweet dark crystal malty aroma has a touch of German lager yeast. Starts very thin and watery with mild caramel sweetness and hoppy bitterness. Finishes with some lingering roasted malt. This needs about 50% more malt in it to give it the nice sweetness I enjoy in a schwarzbier. Just too thin and watered down, otherwise not bad. Cletus (5057), Connecticut, USA

| 2.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 2/5 | 4/10 | 2/5 | 9/20 | Jun 17, 2006 No head, still deep dark brown body. Chewy raisens and maple in the nose, with some smoked maple wood scents. Kind of flat tasting, pale, light, almost flavorless. Bland cardboard undertones of some mild, rubbery smoked malt flavors.
