(draught at brewery) pours clear brown with ruby highlights and very little head. Nose is subtle but hints of nuts, roasted malts and coffee. Taste of hairspray, nuts, sweet malt, Roasted malt over-dried fruit and finishes warming and bitter. One of rahr’s better beers honestly.

Deep brown in the glass with a very thin white to tan head. Nice nutty, roasted aroma with maybe a hint of coffee in there too. Flavors on the palate are similar to the aroma. Very nice.

Draught > Gingerman. Better than most Rahr beers but that’s not saying much. Seemed to lack flavor. Just tasted sorta bland and the palate was pretty thin too. Nevertheless, it certainly wasn’t offensive. Had some sweet roasty flavors. I’ll try again just to make sure it’s not better than I’m describing.

Bottle from ericandersnavy. The white tape guy! Thanks a bunch. Pours damn near opaque brown with a foamy 4-finger beige head. Whoa - aroma of dark malt and cinnamon sticks (we just got a bunch of those). Medium plus body with frothy carbonation. Flavor is dark malt, astringent cinnamon bark thing, coffee, maybe chocolate. Yeh, I think chocolate. The head is clinging all over the tulip glass. I’ll also buy nutty. But muted nutty. Finishes dry, but some malt sweet insists on hanging around. Then everything goes creamy. Creamed coffee aspects. Enjoying the heck out of this. Merry Xmas guys. I’m with Fratto on this one.

dark brown that is red when held aloft. aroma is muted cinnamon, like a brachs cinnamon candy. flavor was a bit on the bland side to begin with not sure if i was still dealing with something else or not. slightly metallic the first 1/4 through this and i was scratching my head looking for the flavor. it just took a bit for this to open up. the light roast came through with an enjoyable bread sweetness. althoyugh the metallic note remained throughoput it did not detract too much from my enjoyment. nice fuinish of light pepper alcohol and sweet bread. 3 6 6 3 13

Reviewed 7/23/2009 (bottle): Pours a dark reddish brown color body, with a foamy, average creamy off-white head. Malty aroma. Some roasted notes. Watery palate. Some roasted taste. Not bad tasting, a little malty sweet. A little hot.

Bottle. Pours a hazy brown with a beige head. Cloyingly sweet, slightly tart, malt aroma. Dry and dusty. Flavour is malty. dry and dusty. Bitter finish. Too much carbonation. 26-09-09.
