Commercial Description:
This incredibly light golden crisp microbrew is a superb example of a large production American lager but brewed in a local setting.

Bottle… Clear, light yellow/straw-colored lager with little to no head. Fruity, biscuity aroma with a hint of sassafras root and other unidentified botanicals. Light-bodied with fizzy carbonation. Well-balanced and refreshing. Short, crisp, clean finish. Bottle provided by Skyview!

Thanks to Bob for the bottle! Poured clear, bright pale golden with a dusting of white head. The aroma picked up pale malts, honey, and straw with mild floral accents. The flavor had pale malts and just a pinch of honey at the core with somewhat assertive sourness throughout.. there wasn’t any bitterness to note.. short and dry finish with more sourness. Light-bodied and quick across the palate.. the sourness perhaps shouldn’t have been there.. crisp at the end, though.

On draught at the brewpub in Marinette, Wisconsin. Pours a very clear light straw blonde brew with a creamy white head that has some good retention and spotty lacing. Aroma of very light white bread malt, some hint of fruity pears, grass hops and a touch of corn malt. Taste is very, very light bodied, (almost water), well carbonated with flavor of light Wonder bread malt and a touch of citrus hops. Finish is crisp, clean cut with a very short lived pear and grassy hop aftertaste. Though not the same recipe as the original Oconto beer that was brewed up until 1968, nice to see another historical beer brand revived by Rail House.

Light straw color with a diminished white head. Ever so faintest hint of grain, corn and floral hops. This is the most surprising, in that there are off scents in a bottle this light. HInts of malt in the flavor. Touch of bitterness in the finish, that also carries to the linger. I’m not sure if I should praise them for creating a pale lager to match nearly most american lagers out there, or scold them for trying to catch a market in an area that isn’t that perceptive to trying this over the other BMC swill. I will salute them for the clean, light effort either way.
