Dec 21, 2009 500 ml bottle from the brewery. Pours amber in colour, with next to no white head. Aroma is funky, smoky, metallic. Flavour is decent, with hint of weird smoky. Weird!

Dec 13, 2009 Bottle. Very low carbonation; no foam upon pour. Amber colour. Very little aroma, slight grain and rain water. Rich malt palate, minor hop and overall disappointingly bland. Tastes more like a generic macro brew.

Jun 14, 2009 Growler from the brewery:
Pours a clear dark amber-red with a modest white cap.
Aroma: plumb-apricot with some toastiness and grassy tones.
Medium body, light sweet toasy caramel malt profile, fruity esters and some hop resins in a light drying finish.
Uncomplicated straight forward session amber.

Appearance: reddish copper, mild haze with some amber brown background. Mid light creamy top. 3-.
Nose: Berry sweet nose , clean sugary feel. 5-.
Flavor/Palate : Nutty with sweet side. Bit light on body. Late fruity finish. Fine but not good.

May 23, 2009 On tap @ C’est What Spring Fest.
Aroma is pitfruit, malt, with some nuttiness, chestnut, small tan head. Taste is a subtle toasted malt, again some pitfruit. Light bodied, pleasantly sweet. Very good.

Jan 17, 2009 Just tried this for the first time and I am really impressed. It smells wonderful and it has a fantastic nutty flavour. The colour is also warm. Overall, a great beer to enjoy on a cold winter night.

Oct 25, 2008 Updated: Jul 19, 2009Re-rate from KW beer fest. Happy to report it was uninfected. Standard amber ale though, lacking in comparison to Steelback dark or other similar beers tried at the fest. Just standard stuff here, clean, but very bland.
Brown plastic homebrew bottle from the brewery shared with Blankboy and Hogtown Harry, courtesy of my friend Jay. Dark amber, small white head. Odd aroma - fishy, light malt, oily water. Taste - not good homebrew mad light ale mixed with Kool Aid, vomit and some sourness. Bad. Why in the world would you even sell it in these bottles if it is going to taste like this? I had fresh growler of their blonde which was clean and decent - this is awful.

Sep 29, 2008 Growler sample at 2008 Golden Tap Awards. Dark ruby-amber with a small off-white head. Aroma and flavour hold caramelly malt notes with some fruitiness, a bit grainy, and a subtly hopped finish. Simple, balanced, drinkable - not the most exciting beer, but a good session ale.
