Cask sample at Volo Cask Days 2008. Hazy golden with a reddish tinge. Nose is spicy and a bit fruity, a hint of dried apple. Flavour is fairly simple but nice, basically a pleasant and balanced ale with a mild spice edge, and some spruce-tinged hops in the finish.

[1803-20081018] Cask. Mildly green spices and whiskey in the aroma. Hazy, medium orange body with quick white bubbles. Spiced ale, either allspice or cinnamon or a combination of both. Medium body. Nicely spice-infused.

Cask. At Volo Cask Days 2008. Cloudy orange pour, average off-white head. Aroma of green spruce and herbs. Taste has a massive up-front hit of pungent, green, bitter spice, backed with decent malt, the overall impression is acidic owing to the spice - you really feel like you’re drinking spruce juice. Average body, strong acidity, long tart dry finish - I really liked it, but couldn’t drink a lot of it.

Cask at ’Volo Cask Days 2008’. Pours a hazy orange-amber with a small diminishing bubbly white head. Interesting aroma, sweet and spicy, a little perfumy or flowery, along with light resiny hops. Flavour of fruit, light hops and spices. Average bodied. Pretty good.

2008-10-18. Murky pastel orange/amber body is near headless. Mild muddled spice is pleasant, light fruit. (6+) Flavour is similar, muddled spice with brief sharp bitter notes, likely from the spice. Underlying beer struggles to make itself known. Smooth average plus palate is lightly carbonated. Not bad, but just okay. Cask @ Volo Cask Days 2008
