This porter pours a deep cola that lets in just a bit of light, creating a ruby hue. The head is a long lived mocha froth that leaves some pretty spotty lace.
A predominantly roasty nose has coffee beans, dark chocolate, vanilla extract, wood smoke. It also comes off a bit lactic, which to me is quite acceptable and enjoyable in this style.
The flavour profile is all about the bitter roast. Lots of black coffee meets dark chocolate and pit fruit. A bit earthy/woodsy, with a hint of peat. The hops really come at you and create a dry, chalky, astringent mouth feel that screams porter. Quite enjoyable. Nice lenghty bitter roasty finish.
This is a great fall/winter beer. One that I will recommend to anyone that enjoys a quality porter.

Dec 19, 2009 [2615-20091129] Tap. Watery banana fruity mush aroma. Clear, dark brown red body with a medium-lasting creamy light tan head. Grainy bitter banana water flavour with a fruity finish. Medium body. Good, bitter throughout but not citrus bitter, more like a leafy bitter.

Nov 29, 2009 2009-11-29. Very dark brown body with a modest creamy tan head. Modest aroma of roasty malt, mild dark malt. Flavour is similarly roasty, sweeter malt core briefly, touch of something fruity with a light tang to it. Pleasant lingering modest roast is vaguely coffee like in the finish. Average palate is adequate but lighter than my preference for a porter. Enjoyable, but just okay. On tap at Volo, Toronto

Nov 29, 2009 Opaque black, enjoyed at Bar Volo. Reddish hues, some head and lace. Average mouthfeel, strong seizing of the taste buds. Roast aroma, sour finish. Hits the style, but I could not finish it.

Nov 16, 2009 C’est What draught. Miurky and ruddy dark brown. Nice, rounded medium-light feel, honey and mocha malts and noble hops, crisp roasty malt and lightly bitter, nice balance - comforting enough and would drink again.

Pours a deep cola brown with ruby highlights and a frothy tan cap that lasts and laces.
Lots of roasty cocoa-coffee in the nose as well as grassy kent hopping.
rounded mouth feel, mellow, plenty of dark cocoa-mocha tones, dark fruity esters, tons of roasty malt tones and just enough hop bite to keep the sweetness in tow.
A robust London style porter. Good effort.
