Commercial Description:
A generous amount of dark caramel malt gives this brew it’s notes of dried fruits and caramel. It’s distinct copper color comes from this malt as well. Complex malting aromas and flavors dominate, but it’s the Fuggles and East Kent Goldings hops that give this beer a satisfying, and lasting, smooth mellow bitter finish. (Our brewer took license here - the original Copper Ale was a single varietals hop brew using only EKG hops.)

This one was a bit of a gusher, as soon as I popped the cap the beer tried to foam over. The beer is a clear, deep amber color, and despite being well carbonated only forms a thin pale amber colored head. The aroma is a mix between sweet caramel, and intense fruity notes of prune and cherry and even perhaps a bit of sherry. The taste is somewhat malty, and has a weird lingering finish that seems a bit off. There are notes of sherry here as well as caramel, and a concentrated fruitiness that reminds me of prunes. This is pretty light on the palate and the one thing that really lingers is the sherry note.

12 oz bottle via trade with Lou18 - Pours dark copper with a short creamy white head. Aroma of haylike hops and caramel malts. Flavor is nutty, caramel, and those same haylike hops create almost a sour aftertaste. Palate is medium bodied and fairly creamy. Not bad but a little below average.

This was a very good ale. Poured amber/brown, off white head. Smooth with a touch of bitter.

Dark copper with a thin loose head. Caramel malt aroma with some watermelon(?). Oxidized, grassy, a bit sour.

Bottled. Pours copper with a small head. Smells caramelly. Tastes slightly botter with hints of hops on the finish. Great as a session beer at a barbeque.

Tap at the brewery. Copper, clear, off white head. Hoppy and slightly fruity aroma. Nice balance of noble hops and malt in the flavor. Very easy drinking, no flaws. Decent bitter (this is not a brown ale!).

This seemed more like a darker amber to me. Not quite a brown. Pours a clear, amber, brown body with a thick dissapating light tan head. Good roasted malty aroma. Some nice chocolate scents. Flavor is toasted, sweet. Has some good sides and bad sides. Harsh at times. Thin body. Nice beer.

Pours coppery brown, with a slight head. Some hoppy and malt aroma, but the flavor contained that and something that reminded me of green beans. Also a slight sour bite.
