Commercial Description:
A generous amount of dark caramel malt gives this brew it’s notes of dried fruits and caramel. It’s distinct copper color comes from this malt as well. Complex malting aromas and flavors dominate, but it’s the Fuggles and East Kent Goldings hops that give this beer a satisfying, and lasting, smooth mellow bitter finish. (Our brewer took license here - the original Copper Ale was a single varietals hop brew using only EKG hops.)

Tap at the brewery. Copper, clear, off white head. Hoppy and slightly fruity aroma. Nice balance of noble hops and malt in the flavor. Very easy drinking, no flaws. Decent bitter (this is not a brown ale!).

On tap at brewery. Deep amber in color with a nice head. Good beer. Flavor is malty and hoppy. Well balanced. Nice malty and hoppy flavor. Drinkable.

Very Nice spicy/sweet/nutty aroma. Nicely smooth, and toasty, flavor. Has a decent hop "pop" at the finish. Thanks to Lou18 for the trade!

1.14.06 I tell you what, Ramapo is back recently with much better labels and possibly better brews. I thought this was a pretty fine brown (bitter? debatable?) to my tastes. Forget what you heard about RVB, check their stuff out again.

This seemed more like a darker amber to me. Not quite a brown. Pours a clear, amber, brown body with a thick dissapating light tan head. Good roasted malty aroma. Some nice chocolate scents. Flavor is toasted, sweet. Has some good sides and bad sides. Harsh at times. Thin body. Nice beer.

This was a very good ale. Poured amber/brown, off white head. Smooth with a touch of bitter.

[bottled - "Ramapo Valley Copper Ale"] I guess their second attempt at bottling their beers came out better, because this is a pretty decent beer - dark copper with a moderate head and medium carbonation - a little thin bodied, but the flavor is a pretty good mix of nuts and chocolate - mild hop finish - a touch of sweetness - nothing awe-inspiring, but quite drinkable.
