Commercial Description:
RVB IPA (Indian Pale Ale) is our offering for you hop-heads. (You know who you are!) the style has a history borne of practicality. The beer, brewed in England, was being exported to British troops in India. It had to be specially brewed to survive the long boat ride around Africa. So to prevent the brew from spoiling, it had to be more alcoholic, more malty and more hoppy. Our IPA isn't quite as potent as those of that era, but it is generously hopped and has a firm malty foundation. It's brewed to the American model of IPA which uses domestic hops that tend towards citrusy impressions such as grapefruit this deep amber colored beer is made with pale, crystal and munich malts. This three-pronged malt bill lays a sturdy foundation for gobs of hops. The alcohol level s about 6.5%ABV. We finish this beer with cascade, chinook, and amarillo hops resulting in a spicy, citrusy, bouquet.

Thanks to Lou18 for this beer.

Poured a deep amber with a semi-creamy off-white head. Nice aroma of fresh hops with the slightest note of malty undertones. Taste is not especially aggressive but nicely balanced between the hops and the malt. A very thirst-quenching and drinkable IPA.

Draft at Spring Brewtopia 2005... Clear, deep amber ale with a small, creamy, off-white head. Good retention. The aroma is of citrus fruit with a whisper of evergreen. Moderately bitter with a hint of tanginess. It’s not thin, but the hops definitely crush the malt. Medium-bodied, dry and spritzy. Lengthy, bitter, dry finish.

Brewtopia ’05. Poured clear ornage with slight red. Aroma was :"small" grapefuit. Taste was much stronger with a tarness to the grapefruit with a "pucker" at the end. The taste I had was watery though and that dimisnhed the hoppiness in the middle. Started out strong, faded and then picked up in the end.

Pours nice copper, with a medium head that died quickly. Nice hope nose. An ok carmally mouth, with a medium / light bite for an IPA. I like IPAs with a little more of a bitter bite in them. Perhaps I drink too much IIPAs... Many thanks to Lou18 for the beer!

Brownish copper, with a decent sized head. Huge caramel nose. Very well balanced, with a prominent, smooth sweet malt base and peppery, spicy hop finsh that really seems to "pop" at the end. Nicely made and a cool approach to the style. Thanks to Lou18 for the trade!

The box of happiness that lmgraz1 senet provides what is easily the darkest IPA I have ever seen, a medium amber color, nose is a little weak, and what there is was a solid hop aroma. Taste is pretty mild, giving way to some medium malt taste. A very refreshing feel to this beer, and the bitterness sticks to your tounge for awhile, but it too is mild and doesn’t make your mouth pucker shut. I must be going soft, because this is the 3rd IPA in a row that I honestly liked. Thanks again Lou.

Nearly no nose. Edgy hoppy taste, goes by fast. Amber color, little head, leaving laces.
