CaptainCougar (5379), Rockville, Maryland, USA May 24, 2005 Shared at an Ale Atlanta tasting: Pours a clear copper golden with a thin whispy white head. Sweet caramel malty aroma has a good bocky lager yeast character. Starts rich, malty and sweet with some toffee and a semi-dry finish. A nicely balanced and enjoyable maibock. goldtwins (4078), Nesconset, New York, USA May 15, 2005 Pours a clear amber color. Aroma of apple juice and malt and a touch of alcohol underneath. Caramel and fruity flavor with a light body and light bitterness on the finish. RateandPillage (417), Atlanta, Georgia, USA May 12, 2005 Pours gold to amber in color. Lightly malty and fruity in both the aroma and flavor. Definitely some apple in the flavor as well. Could have used more hops in the finish. Overall, a pretty good Maibock. Had this one as part of a group tasting, and wish I had more. jah noth (1015), Rochester, New York, USA Mar 11, 2005 Once again I have to thank Secret Santa DocLock for this world-class brew! It is, I am assuming, a year old, but has aged very well. Sweet malt aroma mixed with apples and pears. Looks tasty, deep golden/auburn in color. Taste explodes with matly sweetness, but does not overwhelm. Rich and crisp and a quick, slightly sour finish. I wish I knew this was 8% before I guzzled it. Thanks again DocLock. richlikebeer (823), Easton, Pennsylvania, USA Jan 27, 2005 The hits just keep on coming from lmgraz1, as a very sweet, malty aroma comes off of a stunning reddish hue, with a nice cream colored head. Flavor is mild malty taste, and I get hints of apples, both in the aroma and the taste. A very smooth aftertaste makes this a beer that I drank without putting the glass down, then wished I had another bottle. BBB63 (4198), La Porte, Indiana, USA Dec 8, 2004 Bottle provided by DocLock, thanks!!! The beer pours to a nice golden amber hue with a small head which dies but there is a oily quality which coast the glassware and that is a nice thing. The nose has some heavy phenols but you can still detect large esters of green and red apple, pear, caramel corn, wildflowers, and honeycomb. NICE! The taste starts quite sweet with an almost abbey triple type of candi sugar note, but then the fruity and bitter overtones clean the palate nicely. The finish has some alcohol bite but it never interferes with the taste. A tannin/woody dryness is a bit of a shock (again this is a good thing) on the finish as well. The feel has some bite overall and is oily has expected. Wow, this is surprise and one I fully enjoyed. At first the taste was mild and malty with no hops but the flavors became more pronounced as ifinished the bottle but still too light for me. A good feeling on the toung ethough. all in all an okay effort.
