Commercial Description:
“Floor-malted” Maris Otter malt, imported from England, is the base upon which six other malts are added to provide the complex richly malty flavor and body to this brew. (One of these malts, brown malt, is a malt style that had been on the brink of extinction.) This recipe is based on a popular English recipe from the 1850s, but it’s been updated for modern ingredients and palates. Only English East Kent Goldings and Fuggles hops are generously used.

Has a strong aroma that could be smelt as soon as I opened the bottle. The head dissapates very quickly leaving behind a dark chocolatey beer. Sweet smelling, has a chocolate finish. Smooth and light. I’ll drink it again.

Dark brown with a small off-white head with dissapated quickly. Sweet aroma of maple syrup. Roastiness in the fore, along with maple syrup and molasses, but it’s a tad tart as well. A pretty decent porter.

Bottle. Black body with a large fluffy tan head. (4+) Nutty roast aroma is dry, not really coffee or chocolate like. Dry woody roast flavour is almost smokey like food cooked over a campfire. Light bittereness is almost tart and lingers long into the aftertaste. Light chocolate notes make brief cameos under the dry superceding roast. Medium palate, dry finish grabs at the back of the throat. Interesting beer, but not really up my alley. Too roasty and dry. Thanks for Lou18 for the chance to try it!

bottle-pours dark brown with a nice soapy beige kacki head. aromatically, this beer sticks out a little-nutty quality, like a butterfinger (chocolate included), chocolate pheonols, coffee, light oxidization, chlorine water, caramel, oil, and light roast. flavors are sharp lactic roast, char, expresso, roasted nuts, chocolate. a pretty good proet with quite a bit of complexity (both good and bad), body is a little flimsy but does a good job delivering the flavors. a much needed improvement over that passover garbage beer they make!

It smells good, roasty, like a nice porter. Looks ok, dark with normal head. Has decent flavors, roasty and malty, but the mouthfeel is very watery and not smooth at all. The finish is dominated by a weird sour bitterness that isn’t particularly pleasant. Not terrible, but there are definitely better choices than this.

Toffee in the nose, raisins in the mouth. Porter is my #1 absolute favorite beer style, so I’m pretty picky, and this is a good one. Not good with food, but a great dessert beer. Far better than I expected. Nice. Toffee and raisins, malty with more than enough hops for a porter, very delicious, grab it if you can get it.

12 oz bottle. Spectaculous little porter from the people up Route 17. I’m very impressed with Ramapo on this porter. Very roasty. Lots of toffee. I was surprised.

Very deep ruby - neary black with an tannish head. The nose has lots of chocolate - almost a malted milkshake. I also smell toffee and some nice chocolaty hops. Chocolate continues into the flavor but is almost unpleasently bitter. Some cherry, milkiness, toffee.
