Cask@Black Door. Clear reddish nut brown color, small beige head. Sticky strawberry nose. Sweet and fruity. Lime-peel hoppy finish. Light palate. A bit odd.

Cask, Lord Keeper of the Great Seal, Oadby. Dark brown with a large beige head. Aromas are creamy with light roast malts. Soft berries and bubblegum. Flavours are sweet malts, smooth, creamy and lightly fruit. Some chocolate with light bitterness on the finish. Good.

Cask handpull at The County Hotel, JDW, Ashford. Wow, looking at the reviews of this beer so far, I really don’t know what to make of it. Poured a hazy russet and I must admit I was in two minds as to whether to give it back to the barman as the end of the barrel (well it was a ’Spoons god knows what they do with the beers in cellar and he had no idea when the Oakham White Dwarf was coming on, how can he do that to one of that beers biggest fans in the world??). Some fruit on aroma. Raspberry, bit of diacetyl. Really some hop on finish. Some butter/diacetyl in mouth. Classic good condition. Really not sure if this should taste like this. Didn’t get any of the smoke that previous raters did. It reminds me of a fruit pie but not entirely in a good way. It’s pretty terrible to be honest but with hints of greatness. Had to leave a half of a pint.

Handpulled cask at JDW Hatch End, Harrow. Deep red with off white head. Gentle roast malt with smokey notes. Late hops add to a very pleasent drinking experience..

Cask at ’Spoons, Milton Keynes. Amber brown with an off white head. Very lively. Orange malt aroma. As for the taste, I hear ’ash’, ’nuts’, ’wood’, ’chocolate’, but my notebook declares that the flavour was that old Wetherspoons favourite, malt ’n’ mothball. Mid bitter finish.

A Mes rate. Cask at Baker Street ’Sporks.
An inviting russet brown colour with a good beige head. Decent bready malt aroma with a pronounced nutty character and a good hit of bitter hoppage. Excellent balance of earthy malt and bitter floral hops in the mouth. Good nutty finish with a good hit of roast late on. Superb drinkability, equally good balance. Too hoppy to be a mild for sure. Whatever, it’s a lovely beer.

Cask@Black Door, Helsinki. Amber colour, mediumsized beige head. Aroma is nutty, berryish and some slight notes of wood. Flavour is fruity, hoppy and quite wooden. Quite mouthdrying. Surprisingly good for being only 3.8%.
