Tons of clove phenols in the aroma; nothing else, in fact. Clove-laden flavor as well with some subtle citrus fruit. Way too sweet and spicy; no semblance of balance. Between light and medium-bodied. Creamy with lively carbonation. Crisp, spicy finish. Everything I don’t like about hefes is in this one. MullMan (1083), Bloomfield, New Jersey, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Nov 25, 2006 cloudy pale golden yellow color, fluffy off-white head. aroma is sourish wheaty malt, some "banilla" yogurt, funky yeast too. mouthfeel is light, flavor is more wheat malt, banana taffy, and a bit dryish/sourish yeastines in the finish. thedm (3836), Fort Wayne, Indiana, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Nov 18, 2006 This draft brew from the brewery poured a medium sized head of white colored bubbles that were mostly diminishing and left behind a hazy uncarbonated dark yellow colored body and a good lacing. The aroma was malty and wheat. The mouth feel was smooth at the start and mediumly tingly at the finish. The flavor contained notes of malt fruity and wheat. A decent one that I would consider buying again. PilsnerPeter (2617), Flushing, New York, USA
| 2.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Oct 23, 2006 Hazy yellowish beer with a white head. The aroma seems like it was made with well water. Funky (farty) wheat touch. Flavor is wheat malt, light citrus aspect. Funky well-water aspect with a lemon touch and a late yeast suggestion. Funky beer. eaglefan538 (2383), Wilmington, Delaware, USA
| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Oct 5, 2006 Updated: Nov 4, 2006Sampled on draft at the HPWBC tasting room. A rather outstanding take on the style, pouring the usual golden color with a haziness and a decent initial head. Aroma was initially bananas and cloves, but the bananas resided and a wheatiness emerged before long. The flavor was quite excellent, only light bananas, gentle cloves, light yeast, and a touch of hops in the finish, perhaps the most drinkable hefeweizen I’ve ever had? A somewhat dry/bitter (although not overdone) mouthfeel/finish, quite nice. Nothing close to too sweet or cloying, this could be sessioned. Nice job by HPWBC! Grabbed a sixer to take w/ me. Re-rate from the six pack, I stand by my original rating, just such a pleasant beer and stateside example of a hefe. The phenolic / hoppy spicey flavor is refreshing, crisp, and delightful. There is also a touch of underlying wheat character that shows through gently as it warms. Beerdedone (1885), Croydon, Pennsylvania, USA

Aroma of candy sugar and alcohol. The flavor is sweet, sugary, thin, unpleasant beer for a style i love. harmfuldrunk (288), New Jersey, USA

| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jul 24, 2006 Updated: Sep 20, 2006Ok this one is a re-rate. Just sampled at the brewery this evening and it was excellent. Hazy golden with a big off white head and very lively carbonation. Aroma is estery bananas, phenolic clove, slightly spicy. Taste is about the same with lively carbonation throughout the palate, very refreshing and of course since I had it at the brewery, probably the freshest weissbier I’ve had. I’ll be back for a growler of this no doubt.
previous rating took points off because of very light carbonation in the six pack I bought bottled.
