Sweet wheat malt with orange notes, banana and some spice. Medium body. Overall, a good simulation of a German wheat, but not up to par. This doesn’t have the same sophistication of a the German wheats. kramer (2465), Sunbury, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Oct 15, 2005 12 oz bottle. Pours a cloudy orange with minimal head that fades to a thin ring around my glass. Aroma of wheat, apple, yeast, some banana, and a variety of spices. Nice spicy wheat flavor, lots of yeastiness, as well as a strong malt background. Finish is indeed very smooth, balanced between spicy yeast and soft hop bitterness. Mouthfeel is a little blah, very little carbonation, but enough body to make it pleasurable to drink. Major drawback on this one was the noticable lack of head and the low carbonation. I think that I would like to try this on draft when at it’s peak freshness. Dickinsonbeer (3449), Hoboken, New Jersey, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Oct 13, 2005 I really liked this wheat beer a lot. Outstanding considering it is american made. When fresh- this is almost as good as live oak. Pours a perfect medium gold with a nice tight fluffy white head- fades eventually though. Aroma is a nice balance between cloves, spices, and phenolics with the classic banana aromas, although I wish there were a bit more esters. Flavor is very bready with tons of chewy wheat malt and lots of phenols and esters. Nice full mouthfeel and smooth aftertaste. It’s pretty obvious the brewer has been trained in germany. | 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Oct 4, 2005 Wow, big standard deviation on this one. Bottle from Drafting Room, Exton. Hazy dark straw pour with aroma of hopcit, clove, pear/apple, bready malt. The flavor is hopcity up front, with some pear/apple/banana notes at mid-palate. This one is a bit muddled, but has a farily smooth finish. Cletus (5055), Connecticut, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 2/5 | 12/20 | Sep 30, 2005 Pours copper and cloudy with a thin white head. Smells of oranges and bread. Tastes of oranges, but otherwise watery. The lemony tinges and banana qualities I’m used to in American interpretationsof this style are missing. Definitely drinkable as a session beer, but that’s about it. pobenohne (504), Northern Liberties, Pennsylvania, USA
