Aroma is slightly fruity, dark malt and wheat. Flavors are dark roast, woody, and a hint of some spice and carmel. A rich full flavor and smooth slightly heavy feel. Trailer is a \bit smokey and lacks any real hopy bitterness. badgerben (3610), Blaine, Minnesota, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Aug 4, 2004 Pours a dark brown color with a large head. Aroma of wheat. It has a fairly rich taste of wheat and malts. Maybe just a hint of chocolate. "Unlike any other dark beer"? Actually, it’s quite similar to most dunkelweizens. sloth (1684), Ceciltucky, Co., Maryland, USA

Medium body good malt flavor, light fruit, bananna, chocolate, bready with a hint of butterscotch. Dry finish. A well made dunkles wheat. Eyedrinkale (3209), Astoria, New York, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Jul 5, 2004 Bottle. Amber color with smallish head. Taste has a roasted or burnt caramel quality to it that makes it fantastic. Chocolate is also very apparent. This is a fantastic beer for the style. Very enjoyable. ruffian (149), montvale, New Jersey, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | May 11, 2004 Cloudy brown with the stirred up sediment in the bottle. Sweet aroma, clove, Munich Malt character, little tease of caramel in there also. Decievingly light body, looking at the depth of color and aroma, and compared to a porter or stout you might expect there to be more. Sweet caramel finish. Fine noble hop complement.

Aroma is medium sweet, clove, caramel, some banana, pear. Taste is medium sweet, chocolate, caramel, some anise, clove, finishing with a lovely combination of chocolate and Tettnang hops. Fairly light body with just a touch of stickiness. Damn fine beer! Shadrach (176), Brooklyn, New York, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Apr 20, 2004 Caramel, orange brown coloring with almost no head and an aroma of spicy sweetness. Had a light, slightly creamy taste with some spice in it. Half way the wheat came through more, both in the aroma and in the taste. After it settled a bit I could taste more spice like ginger and some bitterness and citrus, all the while the palate was very smooth and mellow with a medium amount of hoppiness in the aftertaste. | 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Mar 31, 2004 Oh my......this was awesome. As any of my ratings will show, I am a sucker for weizens. This dunkelweizen simply rocks. Dark mahoghany body with a creamy off-white head. Smells like cloves, caramel, chocolate, and yeast. Taste explodes with dates, rum, raisins, earthy malt. Upfront sweetness leads to a curious dusty finish...too much yeast? Round, full-bodied, refreshing. Of course, I'm biased, but take away the bias and this is still a very good beer. Check it out.
