The flavor also had a huge ester/phenol like flavor which was not quite banana, but not entirely pleasant. Some roastiness and maybe a little chocolate, but not enough to balance the phenol flavor. Thin as well. Not great. bigrond (1055), factoryville, Pennsylvania, USA

| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Aug 29, 2007 (Bottle) Pours a dark brown body with a moderate off-white head. Aroma of rye bread, fennel, roastiness, caramel, nuts, and ripened banana. Flavor of rye, toasted whole grain wheat, caramel, and a touch of chocolate with nice carbonation in the mouthfeel. An enjoyable Dunkelweizen. puzzl (2648), New York, New York, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 5/5 | 13/20 | Aug 27, 2007 Tap at Hop Devil (I think... it was listed as Dunkelweizen, not classic). Enormous head on the deep black pour. Very full body, rich and malty, huge on the wheat. Nutmeg and peanutbrittle in the taste... this is really great, except there was a pretty blatant off-flavor somewhere around the middle that was putting me off. Still a delicious drink, it’s hard to dock this much at all despite its flaw. keepersj12 (811), Sicklerville, New Jersey, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Aug 9, 2007 I’m not real familiar with this style but by the description, they got it head on. Very malty with a sweet fruitiness to it. No head to speak of. The wheat flavor is subtle but there. Pretty good. Thaichile (599), 10aFly, New Jersey, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jul 8, 2007 Growler. Pours a cloudy brown with a full, but light tan head on top. Nose is roasted malts. Flavor is cafe au lait, muted coffee notes with a smooth and creamy mouthfeel and a lightly sweetened caramel. Could not find the weizen profile but enjoyed the overall blend of flavors. Thanks to wild4mild for sharing this juice container of brew. freekyp (903), Thomasville, North Carolina, USA
| 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 2/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 12/20 | Jul 7, 2007 Bottled. Ripe banana nose with a hint of nuttiness. Nice dark mahagony with a small quickly dissipating off-white head. This brew finishes with a slight tartness that is not unusual for the style, but of which I am not a huge fan. The hop character only rears its head at the swallow which conflicts with the tartness a little bit. Well crafted and no "off’ flavors, but I’m not digging it that much.
