Pours a ruby black with almost no head. Nose has lots of fruity easters and alocohol. Taste is a combination of sweet and sour. Cherries, lemons, strawberries, pears, wheat, a little chocolate malt and a strong alcohol finish. Thin body. Pretty good but just a bit much alcohol in the finish...
3/31/07 rerate*******orig was 8/4/7/3/14....wow this has aged nicely in a year.....it is now one of the best beers i have tasted with some nice smokey and chocolate notes coming out from under the wheat. The heat is almost gone. This is sublime.... xray (50), Bloomfield, New Jersey, USA

Pours black with a small head. I have never smelled a better aroma come off of a beer. Wow! Malty, wheaty, and not too carbonated like Aventinus. markgugs (86), Wood Ridge, New Jersey, USA
| 4.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 10/10 | 5/5 | 18/20 | Jan 29, 2007 A: I’m probably too much of a n00b to discern the difference, but this Weizenbock looks near-identical to all quality stouts I’ve had. Which is to say, solidly black, with very little dark cream head and minimal lacing, if at all. Appealing at the very least.
S: At first you wonder where the aroma of this beer is at all, but a couple of good solid deep inhales reveal a tasteful, sweet scent beneath the obvious dessert flavors. The more I smell it, the better it gets, like a fresh piece of pie. It’s fantastic.
T: I’m not sure I can even review this beer unbiasedly (is that a word?), because it’s absolutely one of my favorites. It’s uncharacteristically smooth for such a big beer, lots of bready, malted flavors. Every mouthful of this beer rewards with big flavors of mild milk chocolate, banana cream pie (I swear!), malted sugars and more. It’s amazing.
M: So chewy, and so delicious, like a piece of white bread that has been sitting in a sugary chocolate concoction for the past 2 weeks. I almost want to freeze this and eat it with a spoon.
D: I only knocked this down a peg because it’s 9.50% ABV and it kicks my tail all over the room. Too bad because I often want to drink about 12 of them in a sitting. VERY drinkable, dangerously so.
HIGHLY recommended, a favorite beer of mine. raindog (559), Evansville, Indiana, USA

Subtle, brandyish aromas of dark bread,yeast-fruitiness,black currant, chocolate and a little alcohol.Mouthfeel is lusciously, thick with carbonation that allows flavors to gently slide over the tounge.Sweet, tropical, bready flavors please the palate.Perfectly flavorful.Very soft, smooth lightly sweet, earthy hop finish. This is a hugely rich and satisfying beer but at the same time has typical Weizen bock qualities.Top notch! Cornboy (417), Eastampton, New Jersey, USA

Carbonation is slight, but I am not in this for the bubbles. Aromas of ripe cherries and chocolate. A bit on the sweet side, but helps hide the 9.5% (not sure how this can be so strong). Smooth as glass, not hot at all and this is a fresh batch. I have tried 2 year old WW and its outstanding, this one is well on its way as well. Finishes with hints of dark fruit and wheat malts. Outstanding.
