JK (2392), Twin Cities, Minnesota, USA Jul 15, 2008 Tall head and lots of carbonation for the style. Sweet malt with some fruit and moderate hops. Thick, heavy palate. Some citrus. Not bad at all. Thanks to Skyview for yet another growler. LawStudent09 (315), Saint Paul, Minnesota, USA Jun 27, 2008 Thanks to Skyview. Clear amber pour with a dirty white head. Slightly hot nose with a variety of fruits. Caramel and fruits in the taste with a dry finish. Guerde (462), Welcome, Minnesota, USA Jun 14, 2008 (growler from Skyview) Pours reddish brown with a scant white head. The aroma is really pleasant, with strong scents of caramel, raisin, wood, vanilla, and coconut blending very well together. The taste is not as good as the aroma, but there’s nothing offensive about it at all. The main flavors were caramel, molasses, cherry, with really little to none of the bourbon and wood that I smelled before. Palate is a little thin for a barleywine, but doesn’t detract at all. This is a very well done beer. badgerben (3043), Blaine, Minnesota, USA Jun 12, 2008 A growler courtesy of Skyview. Bob commented that he was told this was 11% ABV. Copper color with a thin head. Aroma of brown sugar. Caramel and chocolate malt flavors. A bit of fresh grain. Not incredibly sweet and the alcohol is pretty well hidden for 11%. Skyview (2777), Papoose Jct., Minnesota, USA Nov 25, 2007 On draught at the brewpub/restaurant in Whitewater, Wisconsin. Pours a clear coppery amber brew with a fast dissolving off-white head that returns a thin ring and no film top. Aroma of light raisin, some dark pitted fruit, vanilla and a touch of bourbon. Taste is full body, very light carbonation with very sweet flavors of raisins, sweetened caramel malt, and plenty of alcohol. Finish is quite warm/metallic (from high alcohol) with an aftertaste os semi-sweet brown sugar and raisins.
