Commercial Description:
Our Irish style stout brings home a taste of the emerald isle. Brewed with black patent malt we then slightly sour the mash to give it a hint of tangy sweet. Then we finish it all off with a low CO2 volume and a creamy nitrogen head.

Went to Big Bubba’s BBQ and they had this beer on tap. Apparently it’s now their contract brewery, and I was pretty damned geeked up because these guys (Rascal Creek) brewed up one of my favorite b-wines of all time. Well, in the end the beer I had was a real letdown. Not sure what happened, but this is the gist of it. The beer came to me in a shaker glass, nice one finger khaki head, solid black base. Nice. Aroma was a bit heavy with the ashy black patent over roast aroma. It wasn’t too far over the edge, but it was creeping close. Still, a decent mocha character was trying to shine. Mouthfeel was close to being too thin, but still maintained a subtle creamyness that saved it. Flavor was a bit acrid and astringent, with a heavy dose of ashyness I just don’t care for. Yet even with those detractions, it still held it’s head high and was a decent drinking stout. Not that I’d get a 2nd pint, but not bad enought where I wouldn’t buy it again if I ever revisited the place. Somewhere between great and crap lies this beer.

THE best Dry Stout in ages. Great mouthfeel good roasted and mocha flavors with no acidic, sour or astringent qualities what so ever. Great depth and balance, easy drinking yeat very full rounded flavors. An exceptional session stout.
